The whole point of the show is that even though they're miseducated and some of them are dolts, the core crew is for the most part good people at heart, and they're willing to listen to reason and change their views when they are presented with new information that changes how they think about something. It's something that feels lost in this day and age. We need more interpersonal communication in our society.
