It's healthier for you as well. Cigarette smoke is much more dangerous than the negative health effects you can get from snus (most notably gum damage and oral cancer). Nicotine itself is not harmless it's also not the main culprit in any of the damage it is related to - except that it's addictive, of course.

Remember, the US embassy in Tehran was absolutely massive and it had a heck of a lot more than 52 personnel. The Americans got advance warning by Iranian officials that the student protestors were coming, so they could flee to the Canadian embassy and were able to leave the country.

There's indication that the people who stayed were CIA operatives who had orders to shred evidence of their many misdeeds. Unfortunately for them, Iranian school children spent some time putting the shreds back together again, exposing the various crimes of the USA. America denied what they had done for decades until Obama officially apologized.

The point is to be kind to yourself. You should be honest with your friends, but you should make efforts to frame that honesty in a caring and positive light, ensuring them that they're safe with you and that you're raising your concerns out of love for them.

The therapist's point is that most people know to treat they're friends that way, but tend to be much harsher and less generous with themselves. So: cut yourself some slack, is the message.

I see your point, but is that not partly because weapon sales to Ukraine is very limited? They're not getting fighter jets, they're not getting good offensive weapons (or if they do, they come with significant strings attached, like they have to promise not to hit certain regions or targets within Russia). But there are no such limits for interceptors. And interceptors are very expensive, so it's small wonder that they'd quickly eat through your budget.

I mean, Ukraine is quite conservative with their use of Patriots, so they might only use them for missiles and only use a single interceptors (rather than throwing 2-3 Patriots at a drone like Israel does). But even so, they could have gotten a Gripen F for the price of 25 PAC-3 interceptors, if we're just considering the price here. The problem is to get approval for the purchase (not gonna happen) and even if you did, get the planes delivered within a reasonable time frame (not gonna happen, would take years).

So there are the limits on what the West actually allows for export to Ukraine, and also the actual supply. A lot of the export has been theoretical, and slow to deliver, because the West wants to keep a lot of weapons in case they need it. And they know that they're slow to produce more.
