I've been trying a little bit off and on to use the microblogging feature to reach out to users over on Mastodon, and while things are generally working, there are some road bumps:
First, edits are not federated to Mastodon, so whatever you post first becomes final. Take this post: While my edits (such as a miswritten hashtag, FIVEfiftyone) have federated to lemmy.world, the post is still in its original broken form when seen on Mastodon.
Second, the cards attached to cards seem to go for the first attached link - including hashtags. It would be better if this feature ignored hashtags while generating the cards - in the discussed post, I would have preferred for the card to lead to 50501.chat.
Third, how linked communities are treated seems a bit random - sometimes they become links including the ! (as happened to !Brainstorming@50501.chat in my comment to the discussed message), while other times the name of the community is presented with the ! but without the server name or a link. I think this depends on whether the linked community has been federated with the Mbin instance of the orginial poster.
It's probably not a priority, but I figured I might as well write down my experiences. Keep up the great work! :)
