A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

How much do you think human individuals in the society resemble cells in a multicellar creature? Should a man have cognitions, so how about a cell to some extent? Are we enslaving the cells in our body to maintain the existence of our consciousness, by reduction in personalities and specification in cooperative functions? Would a collective mind of a more advanced and multipotent consciousness consisted of millions of people outperform single human individuals and hence utilize the latter to be pure gears of the grand machine?

They seem so good in the movies, but actually taste mostly just like straight vodka, which most people aren't going to enjoy.

Yes, I know, trolls etc. But such action turns any conversation into a bad joke. And anybody who trusts a moderator is a fool.

Find a better way.

The downside of everything being federated is that it's really easy to listen in. Make sure to keep yourself anonymous online!

You can't wear one leg each from two different pairs of jeans and go about your daily business, like you could for two pairs of shoes or socks, each of which is independent from the other, albeit left and right specific in various cases.

The same is true for a pair of reading glasses.

Whilst it's obvious that both glasses and jeans (and pants in general) are referred to as being a pair, due to the two legs and eyes aspect, we don't refer to a jumper as a pair of jumpers, unless there's physically four sleeves attached to two bodies.

Why is that and where else does this occur?

Each I is a finger, V is the thumb and index. X is crossing your index and middle finger.

It would be a lot more effective on getting you to tell secrets.

As everyone knows, Reddit is cannibalising itself and the longer time goes on, the users will have deleted their accounts and/or migrated to somewhere else, or they will simply forget about their accounts and log-in details.
