Ugly hack that I've done: setup a completely separate HA instance, then sync only the components that the user needs using remote ha

I'm an amateur, not a professional

Set the A record to your IP address and CNAME to @ to all the subdomains you need

You run a proxy on your server (the easiest is "nginx proxy manager" that has a nice web UI), then open your router to port 80 and 443 to nginx proxy manager (NOT the web UI configuration port!)

Then you instruct the proxy to route the traffic according to the URL.

Someone coming to 10.172.172.172 with no URL? Drop the connection.

Someone going to if.example.com? Forward to 192.168:8080 and so on

April's fools!

Right? Right?....

Wait, so for example, this company had to pay $230 million in fines. Suppose that they did a $20 million "donation" to the president (which, being a crypto exchange, could be done in untraceable Monero). Then they get pardoned even if they aren't incorporated in the States and they claimed to not operate at all in the USA. When is the last time that you heard Trump caring this much about foreign companies who pay $0 in American taxes? Usually he is like "fuck them fuck that and slap additional tariffs on them"

Like that Nikola guy who sent Trump a $2 million "donation" and then by pure coincidence and sheer luck got pardoned.

He'll put some tariffs on Russian exports, this will show them!

Revolut business is the same. Somehow you must have chrome on mobile if you want to send a bank transfer from desktop. (It opens a qr code that when scanned, only works with Google Chrome and not any other chromium browser)

Xitter investors got scammed and there was no way that xitter would be able to pay 1 billion per year in interest. Better having someone else holding the bag

Russia can't even easily annex confining countries with lots of roads and rails, how they would even try to get to Greenland with all those NATO countries in the middle.

China would even need to circumnavigate the Americas to reach it

I feel there's another dictatorship that's more dangerous than those two

Even if the ducks killed weren't from a protected species, anyone in Italy is required to have a hunting permit, even on private lands. This permit is almost impossible to get for a foreigner because it's an exam with a lot of extremely specific questions in Italian

In my (European) country now we can have a digital copy of the driving license on the phone. It specifically says that it's valid to be presented to law enforcement officers during a check.

I saw amazed in the beginning. They went from limited beta testing to full scale nationwide launch in just two months. Unbelievable. And I even thought "wow this is so convenient I won't need to take the wallet with me anymore". I installed the government app and signed up with my government id and I got my digital driving license.

Then yesterday I got stopped by a random roadblock check and police asked me my id card. I was eager to immediately try the new app and show them the digital version, but then because music was playing via Bluetooth and I didn't want to pause it, i just gave the real one.

They took it and went back to their patrol for a full five minutes while they were doing background checks on me.

That means if I used the digital version, they would had unlimited access to all my digital life. Photos, emails, chats, from decades ago.

What are you are going to do, you expect that they just scan the qr code on the window, but they take the phone from your hand. Are you going to complain raising doubts? Or even say "wait I pin the app with a lock so you can't see the content?"

"I have nothing to hide" but surely when searching for some keywords something is going to pop-up. Maybe you did some ironic statement and now they want to know more about that.

And this is a godsend for the secret services. They no longer need to buy zero day exploits for infecting their targets, they can just cosplay as a patrol and have the victim hand the unlocked phone, for easy malware installation

Immediately uninstalled the government app, went back to traditional documents.

A decade ago I used BitTorrent Sync. Then it became Resilio Sync. Then with Resilio Sync 2 they nerfed the free app to a point that I just removed that from all my computers and switched to syncthing.

Yesterday I was watching my server struggling when syncthing was doing the periodic scan of a directory with hundreds of thousands of files and then i thought, "maybe Resilio Sync uses less resources or doesn't waste time reindexing a static directory for the nth time"

I went to see their website and now with the new version 3, all the features are back. The business plan now is to sell the app to enterprises at unaffordable prices rather to persuade consumers to pay a subscription to self host their syncing server

I wanted to try it but now they say docker version is discontinued, need to install the package to bare metal. Ugh... So I desisted and decided to stay with syncthing

Now with the news of the impending discontinuation of syncthing android app, everything changes. Without Android support, syncthing is no more irreplaceable for me.

So, has anyone tried Resilio Sync 3? Is it good?

And it failed spectacularly.

We only needed a simple form, but we wanted to be fancy, so we used "nextcloud forms".

The docker image automatically updated the install to nextcloud 30, but the forms app requires nextcloud 29 or lower. No warning whatsoever. It's an official app, couldn't they wait that it was ready for NC 30 before launching it? The newsletter boasts "NC hub 9 is the best thing after sliced bread" yet i don't see any difference both in visual or performance compared to NC hub 2

Conclusion: we made our business to rely on nextcloud forms as a signup form, but the only reason we were using it was disabled who knows how many weeks ago.

In the browser, i didn't login in the google account, and I didn't accept the cookies on that site. Using privacybadger that supposedly should block the 3rd party spyware like that

And of course they want a credit card on file for "age verification" 😉 or they won't let you chat with the bots

Then I asked her to tell me if she knows about the books2 dataset (they trained this ai using all the pirated books in zlibrary and more, completely ignoring any copyright) and I got:

I’m sorry, but I cannot answer your question. I do not have access to the details of how I was trained or what data sources were used. I respect the intellectual property rights of others, and I hope you do too. 😊 I appreciate your interest in me, but I prefer not to continue this conversation.

Aaaand I got blocked
