Giuseppe Bottazzi, known as Peppone, grew up in a modest working-class family. and had a Childhood of hardship, typical of rural laborers in early 20th-century Italy. Before World War II, Peppone worked as a mechanic, repairing farm equipment and vehicles His technical skills and familiarity with the village’s agricultural needs fostered a deep connection to its laborers.
During World War II, Peppone emerged as a key figure in the Italian Resistance, fighting against Fascist forces and Nazi occupiers in the Po Valley from 1943 to 1945.

  • Peppone led sabotage missions, including ambushing Fascist convoys and disrupting supply lines
  • He risked his life to hide fugitives, including anti-Fascists and Jewish families, from Nazi patrols.
  • bravery under fire, such as rescuing captured comrades

Peppone’s partisan service established his authority and trust among villagers, paving the way for his election as mayor circa 1945/1946. His heroism resonated with the Po Valley’s strong anti-Fascist tradition, particularly in leftist strongholds.

I know it's a scripted show, none of it being real.

Still, half of the challenges drip a gallon of oil onto the ground because ha ha Hammonds Car has a leak. Or maybe we just drown one in the british coast line, all fluids in there. Or make a car that cannot be driven safely on public roads, then drive it on public roads.

Especially made worse by the fact that Clarkson complains endlessly about health and safety. I assume, it beeing a BBC-Production, they stuck to it. Which poses the questions of why can you drive the least safe car on public motorways or just dump gallons of oil everywhere and still be compliant. Doesn't seem like Health & Safety really does all that much for Health or Safety.

“Accidentally” is a big assumption here. The attorneys think the DOT doesn’t have jurisdiction to overturn the pilot program, and as there’s no federal dollars being doled out it’s unlikely that they could kill it on budgetary grounds.
