They're petrified of what he represents.
Sadly the current US regime has many ways to solve this problem, all of them are not good for Mamdani, some are bad for his professional future, some are bad for his freedom, some bad for his life expectancy.
There have been many like him representing hope, who have been dealt with [edit] throughout history. [/edit]
And I'm sure this administration is being advised by the same people who dealt with Alexei Navalny.
