I've been one of the people saying "we don't need more users. we need quality over quantity" and i was wrong.

the way it's going, lemmy needs active users who post content sothat the network stays relevant. networks like the fediverse benefit from network effects and that means that if we have more users, that improves the value and quality of the fediverse overall.

So please, everyone, when you can, make advertisement for the fediverse in your personal area. Go talk to friends, make attractive stickers and put them everywhere, stuff like that. We would all benefit from it.

Hexbear is super trans inclusive (50ish% of users are trans per the last survey) and bans transphobia instantly, you may fit right in :)

[–] Edie@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I'm pretty sure I remember SS, and I'm not sure they're going to fit in

[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Unfortunate shortening for the username lmao took me a while to understand. Maybe let them decide about it?

[–] Edie@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I will. But unless anything has changed in the last 9 or so months, I expect the answer to be no.

[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I see, wasn't aware of that. Thanks!

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Yeah, i unfortunately don't agree with the tankie censorship of people who disapprove of dictatorships.

Cowbee you especially are a gross person when it comes to licking authoritarian boot.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't "lick authoritarian boot" for supporting existing socialism, and the person you're replying to isn't me.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is the "socialism" in the room with us right now?

I think you might have a different understanding of socialism than modern socialists. Yours seems more like a 1950s flavor of "socialism"

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

I have the same understanding of socialism as Marx, Engels, Lenin, and those who uphold them today. Cuba, Vietnam, the PRC, etc are all examples of socialism. Socialism is, at its simplest, public ownership as the principle aspect of the economy and the working classes in control of the state.

Who are these "modern socialists?" Do you have a country you can point to, or perhaps an organization? Why are these "modern" socialists as compared to what I uphold?

[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not Cowbee, I just appreciate Cowbee, as my username says. Cowbee is the opposite of supporting dictatorships, he's a socialist supporting the struggle against western imperialism.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Cowbee is the same kind of "socialist" as wernher von braun

Also you aren't fooling anyone with your ban evasion account. At least change up your cadence or something.

[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

My main account is @vovchik_ilich@hexbear.net, I'm really not lying to you. But I feel honored to be compared to comrade Cowbee

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Thank you for signing into your main account to reply to me.

If your ideology is valid you shouldn't have to make alts to force people to read your comments

[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago

I don't make alt accounts to force anyone to do anything. I've explained you that Hexbear is a safe space without transphobia of Zionism, and I'm glad it's mostly defederated and I'm not exposed to cognitohazard of such levels.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Again, I'm not @Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com. You can check @vovchik_ilich@hexbear.net's account and see that he writes in a similar style that is distinct from mine. While flattering, I'd actually appreciate if comrade vovchik_ilich didn't use my username as an alt-name, even if it isn't the same, because I don't like the idea of a cult of personality around me and because it can lead to confusion, like here.

I have 3 accounts: @Cowbee@lemmy.ml, @Cowbee@hexbear.net, and @Cowbee@lemmygrad.ml. I used to have a lemm.ee account that I abandoned before making my Lemmy.ml account, made my Hexbear alt a long while after, and a Grad account very recently. I only use Lemmy.ml when interacting with any federated instance, and scroll Grad and Hexbear locally.

All that being said, you have no evidence that I have multiple accounts, nor can you actually argue against the points being made. This is just conspiracy-theory nonsense.

[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh hey buddy, sorry, I didnt mean to stir up stuff around your username. I'll delete the account to prevent further confusion.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago

Thanks, comrade! No worries, it's very flattering, but this won't be the last time someone accuses you of being me making an alt.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I'm the same kind of socialist as Marx, Engels, Lenin, etc. I'm a Marxist-Leninist, communist, whatever you want to call me. I'm no Nazi, and equating Nazism with communism contributes to Double Genocide Theory, a form of Holocaust trivialization.

I'm also not banned here either, I can talk to you just fine. This is a conspiracy-theory with 0 evidence, I'm not sure why you believe it so strongly.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Marx, Engles, and Lenin did not support dictatorships

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

Neither do I. They all support the working class controlling the state, the dictatorship of the proletariat, which is what I support.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Yes, that's why it's inclusive of trans and bans transphobia, that's a good thing! An internet space without overt Zionism, transphobia... It feels great

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The way in which you can't even aknowledge the problems with your fascist ideology is reqlly crrepy and dystopian. You come off like there is a CCP state agent pointing a gun at your head as you write every comment.

Sorry you can't ban me in this space cowbee :c

[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago

I'm not Cowbee

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Considering you think you're replying to me, I'm not a fascist, I'm a communist, same as Marx, Engels, Lenin, etc. There are no CPC agents pointing guns at me, I'm a communist that organizes in real life.

I also can't ban you anywhere, the only space I moderate is Hexbear's c/theory comm, which on a .world account you can't even see.

[–] pugnaciousfarter@literature.cafe 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, but the russia and china authoritarian love and glazing sucks.

[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

People over on Hexbear don't love Russia. I myself have posted news articles on Russian authorities enjailing marxists and they got widely popular in Hexbear.

As for China, I'd argue they're not more authoritarian than most developed countries. I'm a Spaniard, my state has political prisoners for pro-Catalonian independence actions such as promoting a referendum for independence. The most leftist party to appear in decades fell into oblivion recently because the state police apparatus manufactured false evidence of corrupt funding of said party (Podemos) by Venezuela and Iran, and leaked these false police reports to all media, which echoed it nonstop for months.

[–] pugnaciousfarter@literature.cafe 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Can you make posts/comments criticizing china, russia and the various horrific shit perpetrated by dictators of said country?

My one issue with tankies is that. Otherwise I openly welcome leftist ideas.

[–] Cowbee_Admirer@reddthat.com 2 points 1 day ago

Can you make posts/comments criticizing china, russia

If they're nuanced, yes. "China bad" is not accepted, but there's plenty of criticism of China in Hexbear. A Chinese member called Xiaohongshu routinely posts comments and critiques of Chinese policy, such as failing to leave neoliberalism behind and maintaining dollar hegemony for its own benefit. There's also been big criticism recently for the lack of material support to Venezuela against US imperialist invasion. What's not accepted is "vuvuzela no iPhone", "tinyman square" or "ruzzians are bloodthirsty orcs", and it's honestly refreshing.

I've discussed this at length, but I'll try and explain myself here too: the problem is not that Marxists don't want representation of the mistakes and bad policies that did happen in Actually Existing Socialist countries. The problem is that they're overmagnified and given extremely long coverage and attention whereas western atrocities, by all means much more violent and deadly, are just brushed off and not discussed. The problem is not that people discuss gulags and gulag victims, we should totally do that. The problem is that for every gulag museum there should be 10 colonialism museums because colonialism murdered hundreds of millions. Until there isn't this proportional representation, you must understand why Marxists are fed up with discussion exclusively of socialist bad policies.
