Finally watched the movie. My expectations were aptly set by this thread, but it did exceed they for me. Like, everyone did say it would be shallower, which it indeed was, but the director definitely did his homework and most of the stuff from the books was hidden in details. Even this is rare in Hollywood so I guess it's a great movie for me.

How did you interpret the ending? I’m still a bit confused and read a lot of different takes on it.

It was the same as the book? doesn't grace end up on erid with them taking good care of him? Honestly, the earth he was going to return to would be so different it might be " alien " in it's own way. 26 years later nothing would look same. And if we go based on the book, stratt predicted the world would be in chaos, so I don't think Earth would be a more pleasant place for him.

But I see why Andy didn't get into the details of that, because that would mean some sort of geopolitical analysis, which he might have wanted to avoid. That was what I felt must have been the reason he didn't want Grace to be on Earth, to avoid making any geopolitical comment

I’m so sorry I’m new to this app and I had another comment where I was taking about the movie Memento and I thought was responding to that therefor my comment about being a bit confused by the ending. I’m not at all confused by the ending of project Hail Mary lol. So sorry for the confusing I’m still figuring this app out.
