Griffin added more details to her initial post, writing, “A senior US official tells me that it was a US military strike on Iran’s Qeshm port and Bandar Abbas moments ago but added this is NOT a restarting of the war or end to the ceasefire.”

So, is the ceasefire over, or are we just doing an Israel-style ceasefire?

Iran is not Gaza. If the usa don't cease , Iran will not cease. Even hizbollah no longer accept isrsel breach if the cease fire and are back at full scaled retaliation

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

AFAIK the ceasefire ever existing was a myth? Trump just kinda declared it without anyone else agreeing and then everyone kept shooting anyway, Trump included.

Toddler logic:

Ceasefire means you stop, I can still do what I want.

People forget trump has always wanted a forever war to cancel elections.

He doesn't want to permanently fix anything, he wants it ready to blow as an excuse to cancel an election.

Don't forget Bibi has canceled like 4 consecutive Israeli elections, it's his bread and butter and he's running this show.

The war won't end while trump is in office.

I expect a false flag attack, blamed on Iran, to happen right before the midterms

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Faux news:

Iran just shit trump's pants!

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

But didn't Biden shit Trump's pants before that? :O

That’s the only way I would believe the attack is real. It’ll probably be an Amazon warehouse which happens to be fully staffed by union supporters.

He’s also likely hit the Alzheimer’s stage of his life. Combine his general impulsivity with the characteristic impulsivity of Alzheimer’s. Now add in his likely cluster B personality disorder. Anything can happen at any time.

Reason may not be involved at all.

Someone gift him a luger with ammo and he'll fix the problem himself.

So our best hope for mankind's future is...McDonald's?

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

apparently because Americans seem OK to bring the world to ruin before attempting to organize a general strike or protest on a week day

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They’re inviting ufc fighters to the White House and someone could potentially do something really funny

[–] SpraynardKruger@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I would pay so much money to watch a PPV fight between any UFC fighter and everyone in Trump's cabinet. Starting with the president and VP, of course.

I know Bibi is running the country lika a dictator, but has he really cancelled any elections? As far as I can tell, since 2000 there have been Knesset elections 2003, 2006, 2009, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2019 (again), 2020, 2021 and 2022 with the next one expected in October this year.

Doesn't sound like there have been any cancellations, considering the members serve four-year terms, however, there have been plenty of early elections.

Can you clarify what you meant by him having cancelled Israeli elections?

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

They don't have regular elections, they can happen as often as every year.

Bibi has cancelled due to "war" since 2022, and while there is an election scheduled this year, that has been true for every year since 2022 as well.

Edit:

And the reason they happened twice in 19, then three years in a row is because a lot of Israel blames Bibi for all of this...

Very very slim wins for his parties and his alliance keeps fracturing. If he wasn't canceling elections, the wouldn't be in charge.

And as soon as he's not in charge, his corruption trial starts and he's clearly guilty. Like there's a shit ton of evidence, he will be found guilty.

It's a lot more fucked up than people think, there's a lot of propaganda from all sides that want to make it seem like Bibi has the support of every Israeli, when it's more like America and trump.

[–] TaTTe@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Right, so if I understand correctly the Knesset has voted to have an early election several times since 2022, but Bibi has vetoed those decisions to stay in power?

Still, I'd be more hopeful this year since the four years are up and I'd assume it's not as easy to cancel a mandatory election than an early election. At least I hope so.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 27 points 1 week ago

No, this is a new war which Congress totally doesn't need to approve for 90 days.

[–] Meron35@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

Actually, what he meant was a seas-fire, hence the bombing of a coastal city /s

[–] mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Since Iran retaliated I would say the cease fire is done

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

The ceasefire was done when the us attacked iran

[–] mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

That's why I said retaliated. It mean the usa restarted the hostilities first

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Regardless of retaliation, if there is a ceasefire, and someone shoots from one side to the other, even without a retaliation, the ceasefire is violated.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Actually the cease fire become null and Iran has the right to retaliate, which they did.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

That's what I said. https://lemmy.world/comment/23627380

Yes iran has the right to retaliate

[–] mrdown@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago

Maybe it was a misunderstanding but your first reply to mind felt like it meant that I did not acknowledge that the USA was the one who broke it. I guess we agreed from the start
