I’m sick of closing a post and losing it into the abyss, so I had an idea. Similar to how you can see recently viewed communities, what if we also have a list of recently viewed posts?

But here’s the fork in the road:

Option 1: we group all posts together into one feed, no matter what account you viewed them from. For this to work, we have to disable voting. That’s because grouping viewed posts from multiple accounts kinda breaks down the barrier between accounts. This is ok as long as the posts are read only. You can vote on them if you open them first. The benefit is you can find a post more quickly without considering what account you viewed it from.

Option 2: the list of viewed posts is per account. If you view a post on account A, and you open recently viewed posts list from account B, the post from account A will be missing from that list. You have to switch to account A to see posts viewed from account A.

What do you think of this feature?

Do you prefer option 1 or 2?

I like option 1 with browser-like history grouped by date. It includes titles of posts, communities, users, and instances visited, searches made etc in a list. (All clickable)

So you can trace back your actions and not lose anything.
