In the clip above, Trump says that "The Houthis have announced -- well they didn't announce to us -- that they don't want to fight anymore. They just don't want to fight and we will honor that."

^^ US says that it did not participate with Israel in over 20 strikes on Yemen today.

^^ Trump says he will not reveal the source of the agreement, says it's not an official "deal".

^^ Houthis spokesperson says they will no longer attack US military but will continue to attack Israel.
** Adding more context on this point. Mohammed al-Bukhaiti says that Ansarallah is not stopping their operations in the Red Sea. What I am interpretting here is that Ansarallah is agreeing to not attack US military as long as the US military doesn't try to protect ships in violation of the Ansarallah naval blockade on Israel.

^^ Israel says they were not aware that US would stop attacking Yemen.

^^ Trump says going to make an announcement on Thursday or Friday, calling it “one of the most important announcements that have been made in many years” about a “very important subject.” He is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE starting May 13

I saw a statement from Ansarallah saying they didn't make any agreement with Trump. Does that mean Trump is just backing down on his own? Guess the bombings really were ineffective. Kinda surprised but maybe it's because they want to pivot to Iran?

Ansarallah had make public statements that if the US ceased the bombing campaign that they would cease attacks on US ships, so I guess it's related to that.

HOUTHIS CALL OUT TRUMP: DENY STOPPING TO ATTACK SHIPS

Deif Allah Al-Shami, a senior member of the Houthi political bureau, responded to Trump’s statements in an interview with Al-Mayadeen TV, saying:

“When he makes such statements, it means he’s trying to preserve his self-respect after the humiliating failure he suffered in Yemen and his aggression against the Yemeni people. He completely failed in his campaign, which even forced the Israeli enemy, after the attack on Ben Gurion Airport, to strike directly on his behalf. The Israeli attacks exposed the Americans and proved to the world that U.S. aggression and aircraft carriers amounted to nothing.

Today, he lies as he always does, claiming he received calls from this or that person. He has no shame in lying to escape the mess he’s in.

We say — say what you want, but your words will not change a thing. No Israeli ship will reach any port until the siege is lifted and the aggression on Gaza ends.” @kaisos1987

I'm not sure of this source though

"No Israeli ship will reach any port until the siege is lifted and the aggression on Gaza ends"

That quote is saying that Ansarallah is not agreeing to stop attacks on Israeli-related ships. It is different from Ansarallah agreeing to stop attacking US military.

Ah, yea I conflated Israel with US in my mind

[–] MaxOS@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago

a reasonable impulse

The other information that I am inferring is that Ansarallah is possibly still going to attack commercial ships traveling to Israeli ports. Ansarallah had previously declared a trade blockade on Israel and more recently an air blockade. Ansarallah is agreeing specifically not to attack the US military, except for self defense.

What I wonder is how the US military will respond if Ansarallah again attacks a commercial ship bound for Israel. Is the US saying that it will no longer protect commercial ships? Or is Trump setting up a trick scenario where the US will reopen attacks on Yemen when Ansarallah continues their blockade on Israel?
