Redundant? Yeah, maybe. So what? Do you need to save space on your infotainment partition?
With options, users develop -gasp- preferences. That would encourage competition and good UI practices. Heck, maybe keep ads to a minimum.
Rivian, go ahead and build something better. Make drivers/passengers WANT to use your app.
Exactly this! If it’s better than CarPlay, I will use it. If it’s worse, I want to be able to use CarPlay. I’m old enough to understand that car infotainment systems do not keep getting updated and quickly fade into obscurity. I won’t buy a vehicle without CarPlay as I know it will keep working for a pretty long amount of time.
My 13 year old Mazda had a tab for Pandora in its touchscreen infotainment system.
But why would they do that when they can just shut out the competition entirely?
Is capitalism great again?
