What is enshittification?

The phenomenon of online platforms gradually degrading the quality of their services, often by promoting advertisements and sponsored content, in order to increase profits. (Cory Doctorow, 2022, extracted from Wikitionary) source

The lifecycle of Big Internet

We discuss how predatory big tech platforms live and die by luring people in and then decaying for profit.

Embrace, extend and extinguish

We also discuss how naturally open technologies like the Fediverse can be susceptible to corporate takeovers, rugpulls and subsequent enshittification.

The internet didn't use to have so many ads and the commercials from the past used to actually entertain us. Today, brands just flash their products and expect us to buy it. And as if we didn't have enough ads here on planet Earth, tech bros are now attempting to deploy ads into space.

No? Maoists and Marxist-Leninists (aka Stalinists) are tankies, but Marxists are not.

Why are Marxist-Leninists the same as Stalinists? I don't think Lenin would have been too excited about Stalinism

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Marxism–Leninism was developed from Bolshevism by Joseph Stalin in the 1920s based on his understanding and synthesis of classical Marxism and Leninism.

-Wikipedia. The term Marxist-Leninism was coined by Stalin to give legitimacy to his ideas.
