I can't blame all of it on Western LLM. No Child Left Behind, The Southern Strategy, and it wasn't great before then. Thirty years ago, I had younger cousins who were privileged enough to attend private, upper tier universities (but not Ivy League), who hadn't read Homer in liberal arts education.
