There are many, many things to criticize the US for, but Roosevelt's handling of WW2 was without a doubt the country's most noble time.

I mean, a LOT of young people from the US died to make it happen. Yeah, it was winding down, but people from the US joined up in Canada and Britain and etc to help before the US officially joined. We can recognize their heroic efforts without snark.

Well my Canadian family was in the war years before the Americans ended their isolationist policy and only my grandfather returned. We also declared war on Japan after Pearl Harbour before even the USA did.
That's only because Canada didn't have any control over their foreign policy and automatically went to war when the UK did.
Which, btw, Canada immediately made sure would not happen again.

After the war, the Canadian government wanted to avoid a repeat of the Conscription Crisis of 1917.
When Britain entered World War II in September 1939, some experts suggested that Canada was still bound by Britain's declaration of war because it had been made in the name of their common monarch.
