RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including all information that can initiate conversations when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.
  7. No support questions. See !techsupport@lemmy.world

Just the title.

Do you know people who display serial dishonesty or other bad attitudes, and find yourself setting them on the right path?

Not often in RL, I actively try not to associate with people like that in person. On the internet though, yeah it happens more often. I sometimes engage with people like that online (on Lemmy, for instance) mostly around issues of data or fact checking. I have strong feelings about misleading or just plain wrong information, and obviously issues like that happen a lot online, especially these days.

The biggest issue is some people are very earnest in their beliefs and because of that feel justified in pushing a narrative or pushing false information to suit their viewpoint for "the greater good" and I simply cannot agree with that methodology. Others are just plain hypocrites about anything that strays from their personal views, and I cannot stand that either.
