Energy prices have been high since the US-Israel war with Iran began and the strait of Hormuz was blocked

US gas prices this month are so far the highest ever recorded for August as peace talks between the US and Iran have stalled and Donald Trump launched fresh threats against Oman.

The national average price of gas was $4.06 per gallon on Monday, according to data from AAA, $0.05 higher than last week and $1 more expensive than a year ago. In California and Hawaii, averages hit about $5.50 a gallon.

Energy prices have been high since the US-Israel war with Iran began at the end of February and the strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway through which a fifth of the oil passes, was blocked.

I mean he's actively destroying American hegemony, so he's accidentally a great man of history, lol.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And unintentionally pushing the world towards renewables. Don't get it twisted, this is purely accidental due to insane incompetence, not like he's doing this to help humanity like Leto II in Dune or something.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world -3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Hegemony = the power or control that one group, state, or culture has over others

Looks like we just found our next Trumptard guys!

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Lmao, try again. I think you've misunderstood

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world -2 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I think you are confused, he is creating hegemony not destroying it.

Perhaps you are thinking of the United States waning soft power.

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Why are there over 1000 US military bases around the world? How many have been attacked just by Iran? What is the petro-dollar? What is global reserve currency? Why are major countries trading US debt for gold? Why is the US trading Euros for Yen?

I can keep going but I think you have enough here to understand what hegemony is being destroyed by your president.

The only hegemony this "president" is creating is the coming Chinese one.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world -1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What does this have to do with Trump creating hegemony? Please try to stay on topic.

I am definitely anti-imperialist. Trump has not destroyed US imperialism and he is not a great man. That is all I am saying.

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You do not come across as anti-imperialist you come across as a trump sycophant.

How do you not recognize US global hegemony? The questions I asked you were directly related to that but yet you tell me Im not on topic.

You are at best a troll and at worst a trump supporter.

Have the day you voted for.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wow, I never said that. You sir are a complete idiot.

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Your opinion of me means less than trumps. Via con Dios huevón!

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

From the guy who doesn't know the difference between hegemony and global hegemony!

Can't make this shit up.

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

No, you've definitely misunderstood. I'm referring to America as the global hegemonic power. Trump is accidentally destroying the American empire and the power it held as the singular global super power, thus making him one of the great men of history.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world -3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

Okay, sure I have heard that propaganda before and it is believable but Trump is definitely creating a hegemony. He really hasn't destroyed anything and has merely accelerated the loss of US soft power.

Trying to pretend he is a great man even sarcastically definitely makes you a Trumptard.

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

... Do you have a learning disability or are you very young or something? English second language? I'm not trying to be rude but you don't seem to grasp the meaning of my words at all.

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I think they are maga, its the only explanation for me.

They dont understand what hegemony means, that is obvious.

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Seems like they barely understand the english language, tbh

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world -1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Hegemony means the strong power and control that one group, country, or leader has over others.

Trump is creating a hegemony not destroying it. You guys must have some weird agenda or not understand basic definitions!

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Global hegemony. What happens when you put these two words together? It means that America controls the globe. Trump is breaking that arrangement.

This is about as clearly as I can explain it to you.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world -1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh wow, look at you finally using the correct words. You are still wrong and still a Trumpard.

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml -1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think you literally have a learning disability, lol. Good luck out there, bud.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Must resort to insults when you are so completely wrong I guess.

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm literally not insulting you. You seem not to understand the words that I'm typing, or my political perspective. I'll try one more time, I suppose:

I'm a socialist, not a liberal or conservative. Donald trump is bad, I think he should have been executed after Jan 6th.

However, the American experiment has been a resounding failure, what with the countless illegal wars of aggression and dead civilians. America is currently the global hegemonic power, which means it controls basically the entire planet and its political outcomes. This is a bad thing. Donald trump and his policies are actively destroying the power that America is able to exert onto the rest of the planet, which is a good thing. He's not trying to do it on purpose though, so he's accidentally a great man of history, because he is freeing the globe from the evil control of America, accidentally.

Good luck with all those big words, let me know if you got it 👌

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world -1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Hey, we probably agree on a lot. Trump is not a great man and he has not destroyed hegemony. He has not destroyed "global hegemony" either. He has created a new hegemony in the US. He has also nurtured a new global hegemony between Russia, China, and the US.

The American experiment has been a resounding success. You seem to be confused about the United State's true goal to accumulate power for the wealthy.

Good luck trying to wrap your head around reality. Keep trying but don't be surprised when someone calls you out for your garbage statements.

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You're starting to get it, lol.

I think the main thing we disagree on is that the US has been a positive force on the world which is objectively untrue, but I'm not gonna change your mind with a few comments.

Death to America ✌️

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I am so far ahead of you it isn't funny.

The US has been a positive force for the wealthy. They spread fascism around the world to enrich themselves.

The way forward isn't more death and destruction. That is what is keeping the military industrial complex alive around the world.

Maybe your mindset is limiting you from seeing the bigger picture. Or perhaps not, you see the bigger picture and your solutions are just so ham fisted it hurts.

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What, lol?

The rest of the world needs to sanction America out of existence. Balkanize the country. They can all start fresh with new constitutions that don't allow slavery.

Death to America doesn't mean death to Americans 🙄.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh yes, I can agree to all that.

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago

Hell yeah 🤘

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world -1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

You simply don't understand that Trump is creating a hegemony. That is okay, some people don't get it.

Try looking up the definition again.
