Another perfectly normal day in Dumbfuckistan.
News
Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
Old Testament Christians vs New Testament Christians right here, folks.
The new testament is kind of the whole point of Christianity.
Right, it's where the whole Christ part comes from. These heretics should be flogged and cast out from society.
Jesus probably wouldn’t be super big on the flogging thing. More of a “den of thieves” table flipping guy.
And they either leverage or disavow the Old Testament according to their needs, as in this case.
Oh you think the Bible endorses slavery? How cute. That is the old covenant, and should be read historically
Vs
God is a god of WAR, and praying for the death of your enemy is Biblical, right there in the oldest part of the bible.
... That's just jewdism with extra steps. The Israel version but still
Not really the point but it's "Judaism"
I knew it wasn't right, w to d I forgot and couldn't make it look right
Kind of interesting that it's Judaism/Jewish/Jew but I'm sure there's some etymology behind it.
Why not Jewdaism or Juwish?!
“there is nothing Christian about Christian nationalism.”
- James Talarico
I wish there was more separation of church and state, but the bar is low for Texas. If we're going to have a religious politician, James sounds like the guy. If I lived in Texas he would have my vote. I saw him on Colbert, he really seems like a genuinely good dude.
I've honestly watched Talarico a lot in the past 2 years. James Talarico, at least behaves like a Christian in the public eye...not an evangelical Christian nationalist, but like an actual follower of Christ. He speaks against Christian nationalism, for separating church and state, and most of all, equal rights for everyone...no matter their color, race, religion, or sexual preference. He is, at least outwardly, what Christians are supposed to act like. I can't say as far as privately, as I've never met the man. However, he seems to actually follow Christ first and man last...just the opposite of the MAGA Klan.
He is also very much in favor of separation of church and state.
Man, there really is no hate quite like christian love. Praying for another man's death. A preacher. Talk about the cream rising to the top.
In a sane world, this guy would be investigated and checked for his mental health.
Spoiler alert, they’re not Christian lol labels only, lifestyle, not even close.
Christians are bad as Muslims, Communists and all other "my beleive is the only right thing". They just pretend to be different.
Yeah who could have guessed that the second Drunk Pete got his hands on real power he'd turn out to be a fucking sociopath.
Republicans think they're weak fucking losers for such sentiments.
These people are insane!
"If it really isn't a violent religion, then why don't the non violent members take some responsibility and call out the violent terrorists who commit so many atrocities in the name of the religion?"
Talarico said on X: “Jesus loves. Christian Nationalism kills. You may pray for my death, Pastor, but I still love you. I love you more than you could ever hate me.”

This is one of the main reasons I refuse to be a Christian. These supposed good Christians just stand by and let these heretics and charletons identify with their religion and hold positions of power. Do something about them or fuck off you evil bastards.
You're right! This guy says he's a Christian but he's only speaking out against the bastardization of his religion and campaigning for a political office in the hopes to change things.
Which is effectively the same thing as just standing by. Instead, he should be...uh....challenging them to combat?
I'm referring to Christianity as a whole. They allow these evil monsters to champion their religion. That makes them culpable. This man seems like a decent person himself, but he is the same religion as these monsters out here murdering and raping children and the rotten apples spoil the bunch.
I agree. Also:
This is one of the main reasons I refuse to be American. These supposed good Americans just stand by and let these heretics and charletons identify with their nationality and hold positions of power. Do something about them or fuck off you evil bastards.
That's dumb AF, lol. I didn't choose to be an American, ya dolt.
“We want him crucified with Christ.”
I was gonna write a screed about how this is pretty ironic given Christ's crucifixion was supposed to be a good thing, but it turns out it is an actual common phrase in born-again (nutter) Christianity meaning "converted".
converted to what?
Probably Christianity
death
It's bringing love, don't let it get away! Break its legs! -Christians
Send all these religious idiots straight to sun.
While I'm certain that shit will burn up at those temperatures, I wouldn't want to do that to our beautiful, life sustaining star.
