Exactly. I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that said "Because I'm a Christian, I stand with Israel"

I almost tweaked my neck shaking my head

These Christians want Israel to destroy Al Aqsa mosque on Temple Mount and build the Third Temple on top of the rubble. They think it will trigger a holy war that will start Armageddon and summon Jesus.

Israel might have done a genocide against arab Jewish minorities in the 50s, as well as conducted terror bombings on Jewish communities in Iraq and recently Iran.

Israel is likely the most antisemitic state since Nazi Germany. and I mean the original scientific racism definition used to mean jews, not semitic people. if we include semitic people, then Israel might is likely more anti-Semitic than Nazi Germany.

Jews are cool and i like them

Israel sucks and it's an awful place to send Jews because they get rockets shot at them all the time.

I want them to have a safe homeland where they are always welcome right here in my neighborhood. If it were up to me I would see to it every vacant house in my town went to Jewish families for free to help them escape from literally the worst place that could have ever been assigned to them (well, slightly less awful than Siberia or the Australian outback)

(...and places where no one can survive at all such as Antarctica notwithstanding)

The point is, I am entirely certain that every last one of them would be safer and more prosperous here in New England where there is relatively little skinhead population.

They might be even safer than that in Canada, arguably, but I'm not from Canada so I have no business inviting them to some other sovereign territory, which would be a dick move of tragic proportions (and indeed turned out to be).

What about extremely arid places, or latitudes that get very little sunlight for part of the year and too much sunlight the rest of the year? Or cities with extreme income inequality and no social safety net? You should make a list of every place on the planet and organize it into two columns; one for places that are preferable to Israel, one for places that are worse than Israel.

This seems like a joke where the punchline is "Gary, Indiana."

ah yes, the "is this place better or worse than living in the midst of people who absolutely fucking hate me and want to kill me and my entire family" index.

the worst place that could have ever been assigned to them

Hey hold on, I've been to Utah. It's no Israel.

sure, but israel is a jewish supremacist state that enjoys support of 90% jews and 99% jewish institutions worldwide, and thats a problem that should be addressed.

How would you adress that "problem"?

[–] Cosmonaut@lemmy.today 2 points 3 weeks ago

by calling it out and talking more about it?

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 23 points 3 weeks ago

It’s almost like different words have different meanings…

Fun fact: zionists funded Hitler as they are funding AIPAC

In the middle of that ven diagram lies greater israel

ok that's just the claim again. i read about historical zionism in the context of palestine, and with what i read even just on wikipedia i'm inclined to believe what you're saying is true.

still, comments on the internet are quite impactful sometimes, and i believe you should add a source when making a non-obvious claim

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

it's literally a statement telling you to Google the term. I print and distribute them. If you can add sources to stickers thats the closest it can be.

[–] stepan@lemmy.cafe 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

oh i read that as a call to boycott google and some google's agreement.

i might be dumb one in a thousand, but a period after the first sentence would help.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

nah, the keming and the fonts tend toward your interpretation just from casual reading. you have to distinguish the beginning of each new clause somehow.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

my bad, didn't realize that.

no worries. a line, a bit more of a gap before google, a font change, something to tell me i'm reading a new sentence there. I know i'm the last one to talk about punctuation as i ignore most of the rules, but something would help to remind me i'm googling the [haasvara? spelling from memory in my replies it's been a month] agreement, not boycotting google (the folk you're reaching are already doing as much of that as they can probably, but i'll admit to projecting here).
