It seems promising? Has anyone been in the playtests yet?

I mean I guess but what does society simulation mean? Is my character working an office job while I am working an office job? I wouldn't want to curse even lines of code to that fate.

From the makers of Spreadsheets: The Game comes a new hit Office: Spreadsheets Evolved.

NGL the global Excel Spreadsheet competitions are weirdly competitive and kind of cool but not like radical cool more like least weird uncle cool.

They did say there was something like 40 professions. I would hope it's better things than that!

They also said you and your friends can have your own society. I'd be down for that, just login and check it before playing other games right quick.

[–] whiskerleaf@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah and can make your own rules.

Can societies attack other societies is my only question. Do I have to worry about being colonized? Something about the spikey polygons on people in that video made me think bad things happen sometimes.

If the developers of EVE are involved it seems like a safe bet that yes, you will have to worry about attacks from your neighbours, from strangers, and from your closest friends sometimes.

Based on reading the article my guess would be no? But I'm not sure.

Alright this is going on my list for sure. I like other simulation games like Gridworld and Worldbox. This seems in a similar vein except I have 1 character.

It does have PvP and a previous article I read about it said you could have your own world that's just a constant state of war because you want to encourage PvP there.

[–] whiskerleaf@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Which I read as you can designate a safe world that is only trade.

Just read an article on it and this is not far off.

From experience with older games with the function, computer autoplaying becomes boring fast.

Besides, MMOs 99% of the time can't be self-hosted, meaning it'd be a fleeting experiment, your character not really being yours.

It's most likely in the same style as EVE, timed skills learned based on real time. Add in crafting and similar type stuff and your character 'stays online' while you're sitting at work checking an app to see if it's time to log in and change skills.

The biggest difference I see in what they’re proposing is that, in EVE, yes you train skills while logged off but you can’t be ganked, and in fact, logging off is a way to protect yourself from ganking in some circumstances. In the new game, presumably you can be ganked while logged off.

Finally, a version of me can get a decent 8 hours of sleep.

[–] nicpicname@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Now we got the matrix

[–] favoredponcho@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

Looks like your character is Wendy.

And then Jimminy Crickett said calmly into the man's ear "WHY ARE YOU BUYING CRACK AGAIN?! EVERY DAY I PULL YOU OUT OF THIS F**KING ALLEYWAY, WHAT MECHANIC AM I MISSING THAT THIS KEEPS HAPPENING?!"

[–] whiskerleaf@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Please save me from myself!

[–] teft@piefed.social 3 points 3 days ago

I did that with my character in WoW for fishing.
