To pre-empt possible reports: This is plausibly uplifting, and it's the votes that represent how we respond to this news. With these downvotes I doubt it'd show up in any feed, and that should be enough.

Laundering the reputations of the rich

They are going to have a difficult marriage. Currently, they are both VERY driven professionals. However, once Travis's NLF career is over, where will his drive be? It's hard for many NFL players to retire; the drive to compete is so strong.

I do not envy the future these two have, married or unmarried. It's going to be a very, very difficult future. I'm so sorry that it's going to be very public, unnecessarily public.

But think of how many songs she’ll get out of it

This is the exact same as the median American giving their rent check to charity one month.

Not nothing, technically, but clearly a PR stunt for the industry plant.

Absolutely not the same. You have to include cost of living in the calculation. They have significantly more expendable income.

Spending $100 is easier for me now than $10 when I was broke and I'm not making 10x more

I get the “eat the rich” sentiment, but they could have given none I suppose.

Of course, 9/10 chance this is mostly for tax breaks and PR.

aren't they still bombing about in private jets all over the fucking place as well?

[–] reluctant_squidd@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I read somewhere recently that in the Uk, the rich managed to get private jets classified as “Green Investments”. So now we can all just relax about that I guess.
