Op your summary is wildly inaccurate. This is not the NY Times reporting on anything. This is an opinion piece. Now I'll grant you it's heartening that they allowed it to be published, though I suspect it was accompanied by or will soon be accompanied by either one or multiple horrific rebuttals because that's their MO. However it's not the same as reporting.
