Ive been working on eliminating genocide consumption from my life. I got rid of windows. I am not working on google.

I'll join, but I already thought Apple was overpriced bullshit.
Idiots love it, though.
Just get to feel better and better about buying a fairphone.
Greta is one of the coolest people in the world right now istg
Peter Thiel puts her in a sort of deity tier.
Haven't they been on the BDS list for a while now?
The official BDS list is very small and targeted and does not contain Apple (yet). BDS is meant as a starting point for the most important companies to boycott according to the BDS org. Boycotting beyond that is still effective.
I use an extended list that contains companies connected to those on the main list, and companies connected to those companies. I'm still a little surprised Apple hasn't been on the official list yet, but hopefully this will get them added to it.
I use the No Thanks app which contains almost every brand and only occasionally run into some tech stuff which is difficult because almost all of the major players have Israel links but I try to get AMD since they're least bad in that respect for now.
I use Boycat, which has a barcode scanner. There are a few things that I've found that should be on its list that aren't (largely due to recent buyouts), but it's very handy when I'm not sure about something in the store.
I haven't bought any tech lately. I'm hoping that Chinese GPUs will hit American markets eventually and I can just avoid all the American tech companies before I need to upgrade. We'll see.
Why in the hell would you setup R&D for a computer company in Isreal for any reason that isn't a bribe of some sort?
Israelis infiltrate companies and then try to funnel investment of the company into Israel and hire more Israelis. It's the most blatant nepotism and corruption you'll ever see.
I promise I won't buy a Duo.
i wish i could escape the ecosystem but ive been in it for decades now and have no idea how to:
- de apple but still retain coherence and not need to treat my phone like a linux pc
- i can de mac and use a linux pc; i do on my servers at home fine.
- de google. see phone concerns.
- i can happily self host a cloud. but whatever.
sigh. no clear checklist path.
thing is: i am a sw engineer already and have lazily enjoyed my phone being something i dont have to worry about day to day.
i left their ecosystem about 3 years ago now.
- i replaced by macbook with a lenovo which came without any OS (no microsoft taint!).
- i replaced by iphone with a fairphone running e/OS/, it can do anything my pro max could except take equally good photos, for some that might be a dealbreaker but avoiding US stuff is more important for me. there is also jolla as an alternative, but it costs three times as much.
- i switched to pcloud (a swiss pay-once model) from icloud, it took a couple of hours to download 53.000 photos, since they limit it to 1000 at a time (maybe there was a better way to do it). it works so much better than icloud too.
- i switched to several mail providers that weren't quite what i needed until i found a local server provider, costs me $20 a year + $20 for a domain, with some 50gb of email storage. they have since increased their price but i'm locked in to this offering. if they ever force bump the price i'd try mailbox.org though.
- i tried to use cryptdrive for writing and documents but there is no native software and it's annoying to use on phone so i now basically do all my writing and notes in upnote. it's everything i need in terms of writing and sharing and uses a pay-once model. they also add all features i have personally ask for, so that's really cool.
- i had already used bitwarden for all passwords and proton authenticator so i don't need to move any of that shit over.
i haven't used any google products in like 10 years anyway (it's why i switched to apple in the first place. but i feel like now the open source or european alternatives have finally caught up with the standards i need).
great write up. thanks! i use protonmail for my domain emails. but will look into e/os/ and fair phone when this iphone dies. the other things i’ll look into, too! (i dont so much care abt photos but it couldnt hurt to keep them backed up, i reckon )
I wouldn't bother with the mobile devices so much.
Google is deeply embedded in the zionist entity. It has multiple subdivisions located there, deep ties to their intelligence apparatus (and to the US intelligence apparatus) Jumping from paying apple $1000 for a phone to paying Google $1000 for a phone that you install another OS on doesn't really help IMO and is like jumping from a boiling pot into the deep fryer next to it.
Don't buy Mac computers, don't buy Apple accessories, don't buy in iTunes, and limit app store purchases where feasible. That and putting up some stickers/posters or making more people aware of this complicity to hit Apple even a little in the pocket will do more than switching phone ecosystems like that.
limit app store purchases where feasible
I have never seen the need to purchase anything on any "app store", be it Apple or Google Play.
yeah when it comes to large corps there is (usually) no escape its ties to zionism. :/
What exactly are the phone concerns tho?
Having to tinker with a Linux phone? There's tons of issues still.
best thing you can do is keep using whatever device you have right now until it dies
NAS + linux everything
That does suck they did that, such a "great american company", like so many others don't really care about the country where they started. It's business and they create jobs elsewhere, and then people blame on Dems for wanting safe workplaces, benefits and livable incomes for people, rather than the businesses that chose others over We The People. Truth.
Adding a log to the camel's back seems overkill. Already had plenty reasons long time ago. Since before Greta existed even.
So what am I supposed to use instead? Android by Google? GrapheneOS on a Google Pixel? I reluctantly switched from Google Pixel to iPhone a year ago and plan on just not upgrading as long as possible tbh
GrapheneOS on a secondhand pixel is the best choice, but that's not saying much tbh. The entire smartphone ecosystem is fucked.
I love being carrier locked.
got a pixel 7a and was able to get to like, step 7 of intalling graphene until I realized, I have to contact and convince T-mobile to unlock my shit.
Motorola has a Graphene phone coming out soonTM. Else just buy a non-Google Android phone.
Do you have any idea how hard these are to get on most of the planet?
I was honestly disappointed when they said it's going to be a high-end phone costing over 1000€.
oh weird, i thought isreal was mainly into beeper technology.....
only for the dirty brown people who don't know their place. :p
I use a de-Googled phone with /e/OS installed. Works like a dream!
