There are memes like "when you have to prove that you're jewish" or crass jokes about people standing out due to their lack of foreskin, but i remember hearing that a huge swathes of American men are circumcised - it's like 49%. Jesus.

If literally half of every men are circumcised, why is it even a remarkable topic to Americans? How did it become such a meme?

THIS is why Im an intactivist . THIS is why we need faaar better sex education that illegalizes Male, Female and Intersex Genital Mutilation!

Study of Danish men shows that amongst about 800,000 men tested those who were circumcised had higher STD and HIV rates

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10654-021-00809-6%C2%A0

Study of almost 400 men shows that after circumcision more of them reported having more difficulty achieving orgasm and masturbating than before https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17155977/

histological study of 26 men showed that the foreskin was the most neurologically sensitive part of the penis. The foreskin also played a part in protecting the glan of the penis from rubbing against clothing that made it more sensitive in those with a foreskin https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/joa.13481

Intact America Survey finds that the majority of mothers who were prompted to give their son a circumcision accepted meanwhile the majority who were not did not give their son a circumcision. mothers were asked on average 8 times if they wanted to circumcise their son. Soft sells,” such as being handed a consent form, increased circumcisions by 137%. Instead mothers should be given informational materials on how to clean theirvintact son's foreskin. the foreskin will correctly retract after late puberty https://intactamerica.org/press-release-having-a-baby-boy-get-ready-for-the-circumcision-sellers/

American Academy of Pediatrics representatives get grilled on questions that have to do with the functionality of the foreskin AND OF COURSE, they cannot answer them. Because they're corrupt bribed shills!

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/334636997_Perversion_and_Perpetration_in_Female_Genital_Mutilation_Law_The_Unmaking_of_Women_as_Bearers_of_Law

A study of nearly 200 adolescents from Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and South Africa show overwhelming ridicule of those who have an intact penis and a ton of misinformation. Women believed that men who had a circumcision could be more promiscuous and that having a circumcised penis improved the sexual health of all partners involved in sex. Men reported a widespread support from female lovers to get a circumcision. There is no evidence that male genital mutilation or circumcison leads to significant increases in pleasure or decreases in disease transmission rates . The circumcision propaganda machine is clearly working!

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5888916/

according to the CDC and what they examined amongst men in the USA at least. The rates for breast cancer and penile cancer in men are actually about the same.

https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/breast/men/index.htm

https://gis.cdc.gov/Cancer/USCS/#/Trends/

https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/breast/basic_info/index.htm#%3A%7E%3Atext=Each+year+in+the+United%2CWhat+Is+Breast+Cancer%3F

https://www.healthline.com/health-news/cancer-of-the-penis-is-rare-but-can-quickly-become-deadly

Therefore, In men preventative mastectomies against breast cancer are more justifiable than circumcisions as preventative measures against penile cancers.

(And also yes being bigger or having more skin does increase your odds of getting some cancers as having more skin cells increases your odds of getting cancer... but I doubt that penile cancer is one of them - https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34515952)

We don't see people who majored in mathematics medically reviewing articles, right? So why should people who majored in English be the ones to medically review stuff??! There has also been a connection found between delayed ejaculation and circumcision. Some men with circumcised penises have found that the suffer from delayed ejaculation as a result of the numbness https://sci-hub.se/10.1111/and.12101

According to a small survey the prevalence of death-grip syndrome , which is a serious destruction of nerves in the penis due to harsh masturbation, is moreso prevalent in circumcised men than in non circumcised men.

http://www.joseph4gi.com/2019/11/death-grip-and-circumcision-is-there.html?m=1       I for one have suffered from death-grip syndrome even though Im a virgin so let me give you what information I have gathered about it from myself: The foreskin is a massive organ remember! It covers the whole of the penile shaft from the meatus to the testicles and it slides back and forth and acts as a natural protector and solid lubricator for the penile shaft during masturbation or intercourse. Men with no foreskin tend to be gripping the the unprotected urethral shaft , which is not meant to be tightly gripped at all one should note, just as tightly as they would a protected one. That unprotected urethral shaft over time WILL receive thousands of  microinjuries and destroyed nerves over time. The loss of nerves in that region means that a man has to grip the unprotected urethral shaft harder and Harder and  **HAAARDER ** every time they masturbate and this damage eventually results in a loss of stimulation. I am sure there are many women out there who suffer from dead vagina syndrome which was made worse by THEIR unconsensual circumcision!

https://metro.co.uk/2017/12/13/need-know-dead-vagina-syndrome-7156032/

And finally a study of over 100 men proved that a circumcised penis is FAR less sensitive than a uncircumcised one in the ventral scar and glans of a penis because the foreskin protects the man's ventral scar AND glans from unwanted overstimulation (like when a man's glan is rubbing against his pants on a shaky bus ride)  and environmental damage (like water running down his urethra during a shower) - https://sci-hub.se/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2006.06685.x It is possible that circumcised women ALSO experience a decrease in stimulation to the clitoris without the clitoral hood due to , once again, overstimulation and environmental damage and it is possible that a woman gets her clitoral hood chopped off in a unconsensual circumcision. Heck some women have reported having their ENTIRE clitoris butchered off during their genital mutilation! ...I believe, and I'm sure most men agree with me, that a woman and all other non-males has the right to be born with and grow up wit h a vagina that is unharmed and unadulterated and gives her as much sensitivity, freedom and pleasure as she wants. Now, why do I so many men not have this right to having a protection against over stimulation and environmental damage?! In this case  men, women , and non-binary peoples are ALL are getting fucked over equally by genital mutilators!

I think it's clearly american-led. The fellow I linked was American.

[–] ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com 45 points 17 hours ago (3 children)

I got pushback when I told my ex and docs no to chopping my kid despite having been so myself.

'But it's cleaner and easier to manage...'

Don't care, unless you can give a medical need reason he can make that choice as an adult if he wants.

[–] myyass@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

That's the proper attitude.

[–] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 16 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

When you teach a kid how to clean themselves in the bath you teach them how to clean each body part with no shame. How hard is that to manage.

[–] SpikedIguana@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

But but the asshole cause that's gay

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 0 points 2 hours ago

No, that's just self care. Cleaning another man's asshole? That is gay.

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 30 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

But it’s cleaner and easier to manage

Both complete lies btw

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

The one "truth" is that it "reduces the risk of cancer"... Because technically chopping anything off reduces the risk of cancer, because that thing can no longer get it.

However foreskin cancer is not exactly a high cause for concern, and by this logic cutting off your ears and nose would be more logical.

[–] Nibodhika@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Also not necessarily correct, foreskin protects from chafing and other similar micro fissures that happen daily for people without foreskin (as shown by the person above you having issues running). And while removing a part of you does lower the chances of getting cancer there, if it's protecting another part of you from something it can increase the risk of cancer on that other part.

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Yeah fair point.

There's probably studies/data on some of this, but for a thinly veiled argument that people use in bad faith I wasn't going to go that in depth.

[–] forkDestroyer@infosec.pub 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

It's definitely easier to manage the sccccccchhhhmegma without the ol smegma catcher being present, but I didn't get my son circ'd because running in gym shorts when you're fat, with a little acorn pointing straight forward, can lead to sphincter chaffing ... and I'm not very fond of that feeling. I didn't want to pass it down to him.

I hope he goes on to become a fast runner without the threat of penile chaffing. Good luck, my son, should you ever read this after I'm doxd

[–] timmy_dean_sausage@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I shower everyday and never have cheese dick.. You just pull it back when you're cleaning it. It's one extra hand movement. I don't see how one is easier or cleaner than the other tbh

[–] forkDestroyer@infosec.pub 1 points 8 hours ago

It's not a big deal to clean, but it does require a little extra care, yeah

[–] essell@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Sometimes cleaning it is the best part of my day

[–] BaraCoded@literature.cafe 35 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

I wonder what kind of parent is okay with sexually mutilating their child. That sounds just fucked up.

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Idk man i like being circumscised, 40 years old and never once regretted it.

[–] BaraCoded@literature.cafe 7 points 8 hours ago

If it's something you chose on your own at an age when you were capable of making decisions for yourself, I have no objection (or if it was because of a phimosis, etc). If that decision was taken from you, then I think it's mindless sexual mutilation, and that one cannot regret what one has not experienced. But it's good that you have no problem with your peen being cut or not, buddy.

[–] forkDestroyer@infosec.pub 3 points 11 hours ago

It's viewed as either a cultural or religious tradition. Both of these are hard to pull your head away from once you're raised in that situation, but it is possible. There are likely some cultural or religious practices most of us follow that might be viewed as bad by the masses in a few generations, like eating meat. Or at least lamb/veal.

[–] RustyLog@fedinsfw.app 18 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Here Rabbi, bite the tip of my infants penis off. Crazy isn't it?

[–] BaraCoded@literature.cafe 13 points 17 hours ago

I fear every religion and society that imposes that on children suffers from a very sordid case of "author's kink". If you're born with it and are not suffering from it, there is absolutely no fucking reason in the universe to cut out the foreskin of a boy or the clitoris of a girl. What the absolute fuck, mankind.

"Haha peepee funny"

[–] Cheese_man@lemmy.world 26 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

It's only 49‰? Color me surprised.

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 42 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

The rate of circumcision has been dropping in large part due to the millennial generation refusing to do so to our own children.

[–] Cheese_man@lemmy.world 1 points 3 minutes ago

That's so encouraging, honestly. At times I've worried that maybe I was wrong not to circumcise my son.

I felt so strongly about it when he was born but as he grows up I care more about him having a positive body image than fulfilling my own philosophical position. I'm glad to hear that he won't be the odd man out, so to speak.

[–] cecilkorik@lemmy.ca 39 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

Millennials just out here casually making the world a slightly less horrible place for people to grow up in, in very measurable statistics that only they have direct control of, and that unambiguously cannot be attributed to any other generation, despite getting relentlessly manipulated, economically rugpulled and politically sabotaged their entire lives.

Fucking millennials are so obnoxious, amirite? lol avocado toast or whatever! /s
