as an owner of two rats i 100% believe that, they're too clever and absolutely know when you're looking (and the second you stop looking they're already somewhere they shouldn't be in)

We had two litter mates we let play on the bed. One would start causing havoc near the headboard and the other would make a break for the chest at the foot of the bed. Literally running distractions for each other.

criminal 1 (Fool) white rat chilling

criminal 2 (Roo) brown hooded rat observing

and the crime white rat climbing my coat rack

i only have a video of this crime because he's a very good climber and i just picked him up after he was done exploring. but most of the time they need to be scooped immediately

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fool is a hell of a climber! Looks like they're very dedicated to reaching the top of that coat rack lol

oh he did! white rat at the top of the coat rack

this wasn't the first time it happened either, i was bewildered when i didn't know where he was because i stopped looking at them for 2 minutes and then found him there, i put him down and he immediately went to do it again so i recorded it that time 😭

What a legend, and what a suitable name for a lovely little fool

[–] joyjoy@lemm.ee 42 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You can tell this is a classic meme because of all the JPEG artifacts.

If it were possible to read that video people would be very upset! 😭

One night, I came into the lab and saw 42 using my computer. Motherfucker knew my password! He had R opened and was manipulating and fabricating data left and right. He saw me, gave a thumbs up, before going back to his cage and lighting up a cigar.

Th-th-th-that's all, folks!

And this is why you take aggregate data and specify outliers. Whenever you work with living beings, you have to account for personality. It's not a mutation, it's not a factor you can control. I know some individual plants that have had traits that could be related to human personality; I'd bet that it's even the case with jellyfish. There's always going to be one being who goes against the norm. And frankly we want that, because without that factor, no one would advance or grow.

Obviously fake. #42 and a white lab rat? Go listen to/ read/ watch Hitchhiker's Guide

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Or just that being's projection into our universe

[–] Arcane2077@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

Obviously a detective. Ain’t nothing funny about @memes and I’m glad you’re on the force. Keep up the good work

[–] benignintervention@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

This is a legitimately good premise for a sci fi comedy. Like The Menagerie except one person just isn't about it and spends their time doing stochastic outlandish bullshit

[–] GroundedGator@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

He may be my spirit animal.

[–] CaptainBlagbird@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not sure if this is real, or a HHGTTG reference... Both are equally plausible xD

[–] philthi@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Thank you! I came here hoping to see a hitch hikers guide to the galaxy reference!

[–] Pacrat173@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was gonna look into if this was real but looks like Someone has a full article about it

Number 42 is real in our hearts

[–] prex@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago

We are all number 42 on this blessed day.

[–] Tracaine@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

42 is the meaning of life, the universe and everything. Perhaps he is rat god.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

He's been trying to tell you, "we come back as rats!"

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Awwwww, he's so cuuuuuute.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

Not the onion
