Insecurity cares.

It's usually envy.

They've avoided enjoying things they consider "inapropriate"for their age, gender or some other social restriction and they take out their frustration on someone who doesn't cave to that pressure.

In other words: If a guy is at a bar and another guy mocks them for ordering a fruity drink, ask if they want to try one as well.

We watch billionaires be absolute idiots on a daily basis. We can live a little. We gain nothing by participating in fake competitions that make others rich, so why not burn the empire and have fun doing it.

You like Pokémon?! Your such a child go or and get drunk like a mature adult.

Maybe I’m boring, but at least I’m having fun each day.

and much cheaper/healthier too

[–] neon_nova@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Cheaper?!? Well that depends haha. But yeah, for me, it is.

it is "free" if you sail the seas

(but even if yo do everything legally, alcohol can be very expensive)

Going out as an adult doesn’t appeal to me anymore because it’s almost always centered around drinking, or places where people are drinking. It’s inescapable.

[–] neon_nova@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 hours ago

Yeah, I drink on Christmas Eve and that’s about it. Even then, it’s just 2 or 3 beers.

I moved to a foreign country and it’s tough to make friends since everyone just wants to go out to get drinks. Like, it’s the only way adults can have fun together.

Agreed.

says the adult who enjoys Looney Toons, LEGO, and finger paints due to hand pain

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 18 points 12 hours ago

Looney Tunes were created for all ages.

Legos are ages 3-99+

Paint doesn't have an age range.

Anyone who thinks those things are restricted to children are misinformed.

Finger painting sounds like incredible fun, but I still remember one of the first finger painting works I ever made as a child, which was alternating blotches of red and green that looked satisfying to me. The teacher said, "Oh, a Christmas plant!" which was a completely uninformed assessment because in reality it represented nothing but pretty colors. It was the first time I knew what it felt like to create something that was misunderstood by the viewer.

What I'm saying is, I know how David Lynch often felt.

Is there really a rash of hate going around for people who... watch cartoons? I mean, maybe in the 90's that might have been the case, right now I just see vast, vast swaths of people indulging in nostalgia.

Professionals and CEO's with action figures on their desks, "man-caves" decorated in people's childhood memorabilia... it's just normal. How desperate do you have to be to feel like an oppressed victim to both make and circulate bullshit like this.

I watch The Amazing World of Gumball and its legitimately hilarious for a kids show.

"middle" is an overstatement

[–] Mirodir@discuss.tchncs.de 30 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

We're dead center in the observable universe though.

[–] OrganicMustard@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago

I am the center of the Universe. You are too, but that's besides the point.

[–] huppakee@lemm.ee 5 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Don't act surprised, as soon as you saw "floating" you knew how this was gonna go.

[–] merde@sh.itjust.works 4 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

i skipped the "floating" and "rock" to comment on the "middle of space" 😅

[–] huppakee@lemm.ee 3 points 11 hours ago

Well, I skipped "literally" so guess it's an easy mistake to make lol

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 10 points 13 hours ago

Better than hurting other people for one's own benefit

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works 9 points 14 hours ago

Seriously. I want make slime and make complex endless stories with action figures. Oh wait those are the taboo hobbies, shit, I mean I want to play Poppy Playtime

[–] 52fighters@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 11 hours ago

It is because we are social, communial creatures. Others' actions help define our culture and our culture is the social air we breathe. They don't want the culture to value what you enjoy to the degree they perceive you enjoying it.

[–] admin@sh.itjust.works 1 points 9 hours ago

And that's why adult diapers with cutesy drawings are a thing.

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I enjoy being breastfed, shitting myself, and mewling.

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 5 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

It ain’t legity if it’s not from the titty

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Probably more wholesome than most of what's on offer. It says something that a "childish" interest can last well into your adulthood or possibly a lifetime. And I think that's a good thing!
