Because nothing makes a state more attractive to highly-educated people than a lack of public services.

Republicans have been running the state for 30 years. Why is it still costly and inefficient?
Get rid of it federally and im fine with texas and florida and alabama and whatnot having all the doge they can handle.
The doge virus is multiplying.
Why not just eliminate all government and let the chaos happen. Weak MAGAt.
Why not just eliminate all government
I was actually looking at pictures of South Dakota's capital, Pierre, the other day. It's kind of impressive. There's...not a lot there, like 11k people. They have no estate tax, no income tax, and only 4.2% sales tax.
Is it a good idea? Well, that's a different story. But you can.
Total state and local government spending as a percentage of GDP in South Dakota is the lowest in the US, at 14.63%. The second-lowest is...Texas, at 14.76%. So I'm guessing that it's not gonna be all that easy to find fat to cut in Texas.
Musk said that he couldn't stop spending time on the federal DOGE less than at least a day a week, because without him, America might go down:
It's at least with that in mind that Musk also announced on the earnings call his intention to return and focus more of his time with Tesla again, though Musk argued that this work was necessary to keep Tesla in business.
"I think the right thing to do is fight the waste and fraud and try to get the country back on the right track," said Musk on the earnings call, per CNN. "If the ship of America goes down, Tesla will go with it."
Look, Musk, the state of Texas, where all of X, Tesla, and SpaceX are headquartered, is crying out for your help. Only you can save Texas now, Musk. But to do so, you'd have to spend less time on the federal government. These are the times when terrible decisions must be made, with resources in gravely short supply.
So, clearly Abbott and Paxton will be first on the chopping block, right?
As a lifelong (suitably embarrassed and chastened) Texan, let me clearly state...
FUCK TEXAS STATE ATTEMPTED "GOVERNMENT" IN ALL ITS MANY FORMS AND INCARNATIONS.
It's as if there's a competition to see whether the Feds or Texas can be the bigger/more MAGAts.
