Because it was never about policy. It was about identity. He made them feel seen. Not respected. Not empowered. Just seen. That’s all it takes when you’ve been ignored long enough.
Because fear is louder than facts. Fear of immigrants. Fear of change. Fear of losing control. Trump doesn’t solve their problems, he gives them someone to blame.
Because they live in a brainwashed echo chamber. Fox News. Facebook rants. YouTube conspiracies. Their “truth” is a weaponized fantasy. Their reality is rigged by propaganda, and they defend it like gospel.
Because pride is a hell of a drug. Admitting Trump is a con means admitting they were duped. Easier to double down than look in the mirror. So they keep cheering the man burning down their house.
Because tribalism overrides survival. “My team” over common sense. “My leader” over democracy. Cult loyalty over country.
Because some people don’t want freedom, they want control. They want a strongman. They want someone to punish the people they hate. Immigrants. Liberals. Journalists. Teachers. Anyone who reminds them they’re not the center of the universe.
Because white nationalism and Christian supremacy are alive and well. And Trump feeds both like a goddamn banquet. Power disguised as piety. Racism dressed up as “heritage.”
Because pain seeks revenge. Not solutions. Trump is a blunt object they can throw at the system. Even if it hits them in the face on the way back.
That’s why they support him. Even as he robs them blind, poisons their kids, destroys their futures, mocks their values. Because it was never about making life better.
It was about not feeling like losers while everything collapses around them.
