I sincerely don't believe there is any intention for this regime to end the shutdown. They got the colossal federal budget cut they wanted via a government shutdown, and can just pass exemptions for any agencies they want to still be funded and active. The ones they care about. Which they've been doing, since the shutdown began.

It takes time to axe them one by one. They probably thought this was faster and easier.

Every state is three meals away from revolution.

What a moron wants to do isn't the same thing as what's going to happen.

Do they even have any kind of plan or are they just throwing the same shit at the wall and hoping ten people fuck up their vote and hit the wrong button?

The plan is not changing and hoping the other guy blinks first.

Given the average age in the US Senate, hoping for a collective mental failure during a vote isn't unreasonable. Or just waiting until a few people die off during the process, perhaps?

More likely it should be chalked up to ideological stances overriding democratic compromise. The electorate is so divided with one side (see: alt-right fascists) demanding unreasonable governance. The #1 goal of politicians is usually to get reelected. If they feel their voting base won't accept a compromise they'll sit on their thumbs until the country burns down around them.

...following a marathon speech by Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon. Merkley addressed the chamber for 22 hours and 37 minutes in an address that began Tuesday evening, protesting what he characterized as President Trump's "authoritarianism."

This guy sounds dope.

Cortez Masto (D-NV)

Fetterman (D-PA)

King (I-ME)

Is King even considered a Democrat as an Independent?
