Bullshit, of course, but a military being paid by a private entity? So now the US army is a killers for hire group?

Also, 130 million dollars? For the US army? I think that would even pay for the toilet paper, let alone all the employees, all the bases, all the equipment maintenance etc etc etc...

Forget the ethics or legality (okay, please don't, just set them aside momentarily). At a little over 1.3 million active duty military members, that's about $100 per person. Wow, that's gonna go so far at the commisary.

The US military; for sale to the highest bidder.

They're just mercenaries now, licking oligarch boots.

I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.

Did that person then get a presidential pardon? 🤔

They got their own private military protection.

And yet, even with a private donor buying stock in the military, and an almost month long shutdown, the super efficient cost cutting of DOGE, the layoffs, firings, dismantling of several government institutions, the current regime has already added A TRILLION DOLLARS to the debt.

(Maybe it's all the jets. Maybe it's the high crime.)

Trunk owes USA citizens 1 trillion dollars, minimum!

Not great, Bob.

Someone just bought the US Military. Militaries in times of distress owe their allegiance to whoever writes their checks. This money did not come from congress / the US government. Individuals in the military might have concerns and low morale, but as long as they are paid and have their basic needs met they will follow orders. The whole military is designed around following orders.

By the time any soldiers/marines/airmen/squids see the cash, it’s basically going to amount to a shitty pizza party.

So none of the rank and file just got bought off.

Even if it went straight to them, it would only be like $100 each.

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 19 points 15 hours ago

Who the hell would binance this?

[–] ZetaLightning94@lemmy.world 21 points 15 hours ago

Now that is illegal... but who in congress is going to stop it....

Some people have too much money.
