Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I don't think they'd be able to fly very well without bones but sure, if you want I don't see why not...

[–] thethunderwolf@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 hours ago

Insect wings are boneless and better for flying than bird wings

[–] Grail@piefed.soulism.net 11 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Only if the wings are vegan

[–] BarbecueCowboy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 10 hours ago

I only eat bone-in vegan wings.

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

What if I just suck on them without biting and eating?

[–] Nalivai@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Suck on deznuts.
Am I doing it right?

[–] phuntis@sopuli.xyz 6 points 13 hours ago

transphobia! trans people deserve real chicken wings not nuggets with delusions of grandeur

[–] thethunderwolf@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (2 children)

Mass animal murder, and thus boneless wings, should not be legal

But we can give trans people something else for free, like maybe something they need, such as gender affirming healthcare

And actually how about also giving everyone free food

[–] Maven@piefed.zip 5 points 6 hours ago

Vegan wings are inherently boneless and so they would be included as free boneless wings.

I'm loving how many comments are along this line. If this were Reddit, the trolls would be out in full force downvoting valid comments because "ew vegan." I don't know if it's because the mods are stellar on this com, or if it's evidence of overlap and/or acceptance between trans individuals and veganism, but it's refreshing to see.

Hey, this is not fair. No one should have them! 🙃

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

No one should have this. What do you have against trans people, I wouldn't wish boneless wings to my worst enemy.

All food should be free comrade. I don't consider chickens to be food though so please consider plant based wings

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 22 hours ago

Cauliflower makes for really excellent "wings"

I’m going to have to downvote only for the meat aspect. Give trans people vegan wings, and no, not the wings of a vegan.

[–] stray@pawb.social 4 points 16 hours ago

Vegan wings are naturally boneless!

I ate all the bones btw >:3

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 35 points 1 day ago (1 children)

[Chubbyemu voice] This user ate 45 pounds of wing bones over 2 weeks. Here’s what happened to their kidneys.

This user is a Lemmy user ☝️presenting to the emergency room with hyperbonesemia. Hyper- : meaning high, bones: meaning bones, and -emia: meaning presence in blood. This user was suffering from an high presence of bones in their blood.

[–] luciferofastora@feddit.org 9 points 19 hours ago

If you wanna be pedantic - I do - it would be οστεα (idk the accents, it's been 13 years) / ostea for bones. Hyperostemia might work.

Upvote this if trans people should have free chickenless wings and juicy plant-based burgers
