This comic is a little older but recent events have basically made it true

It's horrible when you come up with some absurd example that could never happen to use somewhere, and shortly after reality calls your bluff.

Don't worry you're safe the absurd example of a woman becoming president will never happen

Idk what to believe anymore

sigh I remember Harris wore that exact outfit and pearls one time and I got hopeful that The Simpsons predicted the future.

I can't find it, but I remember a political cartoon during the first Trump admin where the cartoonist is drawing and their partner comes in to say something to the effect of "stop, that cartoon you're drawing just happened."

Yeah, ICE is killing people for sport, and we recently learned through the Epstein releases that Trump played party to infanticide.

Throwing 'trump witnessed someone throw a baby in a lake' on the pile of 'shit I learned about on a meme community'

[–] PhoenixDog@piefed.ca 19 points 5 days ago

It's only a matter of time before Trump literally eats a baby and MAGA cheers him on while restricting abortions because "think of the children".

Could I interest you in everything, all of the time?

Apathy's a tragedy and boredom is a crime

Anything and everything, all of the time

Right before the towers fell circa '99

I think most people like this song for the catchy and funny chorus, but to me this is the best part.

It was always the plan, to put the world in your hand...

It’s been a while since I watched that part, but when it came out I probably watched it a thousand times.

Every so often I still go on a Bo Burnham Binge.

And it costs me so much because then for two weeks afterwards my ADHD brain just has his songs on repeat when I'm at work or trying to sleep.

The trick is to then listen to Bittersweet Symphony and start breathing in that rhythm

Didn't eat it, just raped its teenage mother and threw it in a lake.

Reminds me of the time I got fired for making a joke headline in a system that I wasn't properly trained on while attempting to train someone else how to use said system.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

Must have been either a really edgy "joke" or a critically important system, or you had a history of goofing and someone didn't like it. Or a company about to get digested by private equity and they were looking for any excuse to get rid of people.

[–] xia@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago

What does this do to a mind, I wonder...

[–] dance_ninja@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

How to microdose keeping up with current events.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Exactly this, but if you replaced cute animals with competing headlines meant to pander to your specific feelings and make you think your side is "winning," it would be depressingly accurate.

Eyebleach is truly an instinctive & necessary coping method.

the trick is to block all news and politic-related communities

Reminds me when one of shitty company Rockstar's shitty games in a shitty imitation of New York had their imitation of the convicted felon be a literal cannibal, eating human served on a plate.
