Ultimately it may be completely out of context, but based purely on the small sample he appears a bit extreme. It's the problem with small snippets like this, and why you need to be careful with what you post.
Well it's not violent from what I can see, but it's also not funny.
He hasn't posted in a while though, so I think I'd have to check out what he's like on twitter to see if he's turned into some erratic psycho.
This just tells me the guy is actually violent though. If he's literally getting banned for his stuff then he can say it's for comedy/meant to be funny, but he's missing the mark.
Complaining about being censored in this case isn't really valid as he's going over the line.
To be fair, replying with I'll skin you alive is pretty extreme/completely unnecessary.
There's reasonable discourse and then there's just "Fuck you dumb idiot" type responses which add nothing to a conversation.
I'd consider his response pretty childish/immature although a less extreme version of it makes sense.

You get banned in a reddit community you can't access it, you get banned in a lemmy community you can't access it.
I've been banned from reddit communities and can still access reddit. If you've been banned from Reddit completely you must have done some terrible shit.
In your example, you're also suggesting a transphobic person has more scope on Lemmy to continue being transphobic than on Reddit. That's not a good thing?
I am quite confused by your post tbh.
Just be aware Lemmy has its own share of issues and extremist views. It's not as simple as Reddit is evil and Lemmy is good, both have their pros and cons at end of day and realistically they both probably have a role to play for people.
I don't think that changes the fact the system is illogical and stupid though. It's way too basic a system if that's how they're running it.

It's surprisingly easy to live without any subscription. I don't have any. If you're tech savvy you can either block most ads that subscriptions give you, or bypass the service entirely and get free premium or just dl videos/music etc.
And as the services get worse there's little incentive to actually keep a subscription. Netflix is becoming pretty dogshit for example.
Who cares if it is on Steam or not though?
If everything was on everything then sure, that would be great. But that's not realistic, and having this alternative where everything is on Steam but not elsewhere is not a good solution for that because Steam will be shit one day, and already has quite a few shitty issues.
Honestly, people have this ridiculous view of PC gaming and Steam sometimes. Look around the world and show me where having one company having a massive hold over that sector has ever worked out well long term for consumers.
Games were definitely buggy and I honestly think people forget how much better the quality is nowadays.
I also think there is something to it just being the 90s or so and not having much choice. If you only have one game to play then of course you're going to replay it to death. If I have a steam library of 1000 games then I'm much less likely to.
A lot of this is just nostalgia for the past and the environment as opposed to games being any better.
