I asked you a genuine question about the data you posted, and you just reply rtfm?

Maybe stay on reddit.

Were you able to come to any conclusions with the data, or was it just for fun?

Basically, it's a calculator that can take letters, numbers, words, sentences, and so on as input.

And produce a mathematically "correct" sounding output, defined by language patterns in the training data.

This core concept is in most if not all "AI" models, not just LLMs, I think.

This totally happened

You're completely missing my point.

There's a big difference. You don't blame the hammer used to assault someone. There had to be a human to initiate the action.

AI seems to be directly impacting your life in a way that it doesn't for me. But I agree with you 100% that the way they're training AI right now is immoral and amounts to intellectual theft.

And I can't think of the terms right now, but I've heard of methods to essentially poison training data by running images through some software that leaves watermarks that are virtually imperceptible by humans. I think that's cool as fuck and I love to see it happening. Hit the fuckers in the training data. Which will then hit their bank accounts.

Lets take something that is meaningful to me though; US Politics.

Yeah, I'm angry right now, but if I let that anger interfere with how I see and interact with the political landscape, I'll be fighting ghosts and boogymen while the real monsters are free to do as they please.

Same goes for AI, same goes for any just cause.

Know your enemy, not the boogyman sent to distract you.

I don't think people should be allowed to, and I never said as much.

The bad things being done are being done -with- AI, not because of it. My stance is one of accepting that it's a thing that exists in the world and it will not go away. Any energy you put into erasing it is going to be wasted. It's here.

The humans gatekeeping the AI are the problem, not the AI.

The fact that most of humanity has given our inherent power to money, and that money (in the hands of the few) controls the world is another problem.

The absolute best thing we can do as individuals is embrace AI. The more you understand it, the more influence you will have over the path it takes, but it will not go away without some global extinction level event.

I didn't say anything about right or wrong. I'm talking about what is and why it will remain so.

Genuinely asking out of ignorance: What does The Flash have to do with this comic?

Newbie linux cu*t here!

(I'm currently using Firefox 124.01 on Ubuntu 22.04.03 LTS) (My formatting is also givinge problems... I want to eat my own eyeballs out right now...)

I'm very new to Linux, and trying to get PHP installed, but it won't render anything...

Following this guide (https://ubuntu.com/server/docs/programming-php), I started with:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install apache2

Test Page Success!

So I continue with:

sudo apt install php libapache2-mod-php
sudo apt install php-mysql
sudo apt install php-cgi

Then:

sudo systemctl restart apache2.service

I write the following in /var/www/html/index.php:

<?php

phpinfo();

Test Text1

?>

Test Text2

I see "Test Text2" and nothing else. I see my PHP tags and their contents upon source inspection.

Then I perform the following:

apt list --installed | grep php
sudo apt purge php
apt list --installed | grep php (0 Results)

And try again:

sudo apt install php libapache2-mod-php
sudo apt install php-mysql
sudo apt install php-cgi

sudo systemctl restart apache2.service

No luck... Any ideas what's going on?

A little additional info:

I'm feeling a lot of feelings and need to vent, so my apologies if this ends up being a little scatterbrained.

I'm a security guard in a purple city/red state, and I'm working an event tonight at a church. 3 hours into my shift, I've accepted that I'll have to go to the bathroom at some point.

I'm tall (over 6ft/180cm), over weight, bad hairline, and the only obviously feminine shape I have is boobs (which are squished into a sports bra and not very visible).

Package all this in a polo shirt and black cargo pants... I've gotten "maam'd" -twice- in the 1.5 years I've been working this job.

So, after 3 hours of deliberating, I decided to trade some of my dignity for safety and just use the mens room. I'd already been misgendered, so I felt it was the best option...

I go into the mens room, take care of business (in a stall), and as I'm washing my hands, this guy comes in, sees me and says "am I in the wrong place??" as he walks back out to check the sign on the door. I told him no, I don't think so and just got the fuck out as fast as possible.

There was no confrontation and I didn't feel unsafe, though now I'm worried about a complaint (which I was also trying to avoid), and now I'm too nervous to use either one next time I have to pee... I can't win. And I feel like my spent dignity got me nothing but frustration and a possible complaint.

I won't lie, there was some validation in the whole thing, but it was tainted by the frustration of feeling like there's no place in the world for me and the desire to just hide myself away from it all...

I may have gone too far...
