Been through the same situation. Find a distro that you like, any decently user friendly distro will handle setting up the dual boot for you.
No need to reinstall games etc, just make sure you partition has enough storage for linux and pick that part during the install.
After that start slowly transitioning your games to linux. In steam toggle the compatibility setting, this will try to run proton over your games. Then only boot into windows when its necessary for VR/online games.

I like your view of religion as a spiritual guide for morality. Most people are too narrow minded when it comes to religion. They purley hate and focus on the byproducts of the zeitgeist, cultural norms from times past. Instead they should read between the lines and try to understand the actual message it's trying to convey.
SimpleX-Chat. It's not as streamlined as Signal for onboarding new users, aka convincing your friend and families. But most things work fine, chatting, calling and filesharing. It's completely anonymous, as in that you don't need to register with a phonenumber and or username. You can also self-host and use your own server if you are into that.
