Can moderators/admins control the time period before threads/posts are deleted?
I've been nursing the idea of a gimmicky instance with ephemeral threads but I've been thinking more 1-2 weeks rather than a year.
Sometimes the reasons are historical or due to the fact that certain mathematical objects weren't yet developed at the time, or just not known to the mathematician.
As an example take James Maxwell, when he worked on what are now called Maxwell's equations, he didn't use vector notation, and they were a bit less than 2 dozen equations, now they're more commonly taught with vector notation and are written more concisely as four equations, going even further using tensors you can group them into two equations only.
He says near the end "all that's left is gold, and central bank digital currencies", I don't understand why the latter is resistant to censorship or seizure. I get why it may be the case with gold and bitcoin. Anyone know why CBDC is grouped with those two?
If they're third party tools and not built-in features of lemmy/piefed, why does this reflect badly on them? And wouldn't a mod at mbin be able to implement them in their community?

I haven't been following this particular law, but I've always wondered how it would have been implemented for servers.
Even windows has a server edition I believe, if a corporation is using a windows server, would one of their IT employees have to verify it themselves?
What about IOT operating systems, docker/podman containers, router firmware, and so on. Not sure if they address these things in the legal code or not.
This is good news for california, I believe atleast colorado has a similar law being proposed as well. Hope they take notes from cali.
