The advertisers are doing the same math as the spam calls and emails. Basically, if one in 10,000 bite, that's all they need to stay in business. Ads, and spam both target stupid desperate easily manipulated people. The fact that you also see it, and show distain, in no way affects their business model.
I think you are being optimistic about things lasting till you're 65.

Has anyone considered the flip side of this. if we are unintentionally creating a bacteria that eats plastic, and our civilization is made of plastic, then this is a bad thing. Hospital equipment, airplanes, computers food storage, electrical wires.....
Don't get me wrong, I think we should end all plastic use. but in a controlled way, not with a plastic eating plague.

I worked with computers for about 30 years, and in retirement been testing ai for fun. I've yet to figure out what the point of them is. They lie, manipulate users and censor information. Their prose is overly verbose and their code sucks. What's the point....
You know, as I was typing the first paragraph I realized the point. They are really good at controlling and manipulating stupid people. They are the new Facebook and twitter. How depressing.

I get the flu vaccine every year because about 30 years ago I didn't, and caught the flu. At one stage I was so weak I couldn't even get up to pee. Now I get that vaccine and every other one offered.
Funny story, something similar happened to a coworker, but he heated his house with a wood stove. he had to crawl outside to get wood, and then crawl back pushing one piece of wood at a time, back to the house. Flu kills and I'm okay with the anti vax types not getting. let them die off.
