I found it funny because the human was trying to battle the Orc and win, and ended up romancing him into peace instead. In the star trek universe this could be Riker and a Klingon female and it's still funny to me. Didn't catch the homophobic vibe others got. For me it's the "ew Orcs are ugly" angle that's a bit cringe

This may one of the reasons Alien works so well as a movie. The actors were often directed to improvise dialogue based on a description or just a few written lines. The conversations feel natural as the actors seemingly struggle to find the right words.
