USA's war in Iran has accelerated the demise of its global empire. Many have compared it to the Suez Crisis.

The Economist article is written based on the cope version of facts in which the losses are mainly the large use of ammunition. No discussion of the destruction of the military bases or the puppet Gulf kingdoms and other wider impacts.

They have your phone number when you created the account. They can collect metadata and study who is connected to who.

The contents of the messages may be unreadable to them without access to your phone, but signal functions as a honey pot for metadata analysis.

A list of grievances of the US government and I think that they are directing the arrest of Pavel durov

"The company can gain access to messages unless users select a secret chat option with end-to-end encryption, according to two former employees. On at least two occasions, the company has retrieved the messages of former employees, one person said." LOL, the pretend privacy branding

As usual, never assume any technology or service is "private"/"secret" and rely on it as your sole protection. Also, all online communications can have metadata collected

remains unclear how the anti-encryption laws were used. they appear to have extra-territorial applications. but as always, assume it is possible that your encrypted chat service could be compromized in some way

Beware of fake encrypted chat apps

Briar is a messaging app designed for activists, journalists, and anyone else who needs a safe, easy and robust way to communicate. Unlike traditional messaging apps, Briar doesn’t rely on a central server - messages are synchronized directly between the users’ devices. If the internet’s down, Briar can sync via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, keeping the information flowing in a crisis. If the internet’s up, Briar can sync via the Tor network, protecting users and their relationships from surveillance.
