The removal and the police brutality are two separate conversations.

Yeah, that was more my point with my initial post. I understand escorting someone from the premises if they are causing a huge scene, but these cops violently wrestled these people out of there, even employing a potentially lethal weapon on two occasions. Many people have died over the years from being tased, and so to see it being used so wantonly is incredibly disturbing.

Just because the property is public doesn’t mean the public can do whatever they want in it

Yes, but what those people were doing was exercising their first amendment rights. It's not like they were going around punching people, or shouting "Fire!". And considering that they were there attending a town hall, it's really hard to make the case that they were loitering.

People who are interrupting whatever is going on can definitely be removed from the proceedings.

I don't know that that's true, legally speaking. I am, however, ignorant of a great many things, and this is definitely one area in which I feel a profound deficiency. But just because people routinely get abused in this way by the police doesn't necessarily imply that it is legal for them to do so. As you point out in your next sentence, cops use violence with impunity, and our justice system tends to look the other way when they do.

I'm not well versed in property law, but the article says that the rally was at a community center. Does that necessarily imply that this is public, rather than private property? And if so, what possible justification could there be for the police to violently subdue people for exercising their freedom of speech on public property? Legal justification, that is. The MAGAts would obviously cite their hatred for all things pertaining to American freedoms (save those directly to do with bearing arms) as justification.

Not the person you replied to, but I'm guessing that they're a stickler for the original meaning, which is "to reduce by a 10th", hence the "deci" in decimate. It comes from a military discipline practice that could only have been invented by the Romans. The force to be punished is divided into groups of 10, and each group is given a bag containing 9 white pebbles and one black pebble. They each take turns reaching into the bag blindly and grabbing a pebble. The people with the white pebbles are then each given a cudgel and ordered to bludgeon the poor bastard with the black pebble to death, hence reducing their overall numbers by a tenth, or decimating them.

"To be honest..." / "If I'm being honest..."

So, what, you're normally lying?

"It is what it is"

A tautology is a tautology.

"Tell me how you really feel" (said after you share a harsh opinion on someone / something)

Didn't I just do that?

"I'll hold down the fort"

Why? Is it threatening to float away?

I'll admit that last one is a bit David Mitchellian.

I give far less of a shit about how much the program will cost than I do about the fact that we're building and populating fucking concentration camps.

Why on earth would I ever want to talk to you again?

You're right, of course. They're not ALL stupid racists. Much like rain also contains miniscule portions of debris which the water forms droplets around, MAGA also contains a core component of incredibly evil people, and a few run-of-the-mill racists of average intelligence.

If someone votes for a racist because their feelings got hurt by being insulted, then they're a stupid racist, full stop.

Sorry you're butthurt by OP pointing out reality. Do you also flip out when someone points out that rain is made up of water?

No, that's a demogorgon. A demagogue is a half god / half mortal.

And they sure as fuck aren’t going to vote in the 2026 Midterms either, cupcake.

I would love to hear your reasoning as to why you're going to have more success trying to be nice to traitors in the hopes that they will no longer be traitors than in convincing someone that not voting against a person who actively hates America is a bad thing. I mean, you're going to have to really put your foot into this one, because that whole premise sounds stupid as fuck.

No, I’m going to spend 2025 focusing on you idiot Democrats

Great. Continue beating that drum, you fucking moron. See how that works out for you. I accept your vote, but you will never get my gratitude, you Vichy motherfucker.

Edit: Oops - I'm sorry. According to your idiotic theory, my being mean to you means that you're going to vote for a fascist. Please, Mr. Rational Guy, sir, please don't vote for Trump in 2028 (assuming we still have elections by then) - I promise I'll be really really nice to you! Fucking idiot.
