Yeah I originally got one when I moved out of my parents since I was living on my own. Big fan of the reusable pods that I can fill myself! Cleaning is a minor chore but worth it, imo. Never had one die of natural causes yet, but from the research I did on eBay, boards are pretty cheap and they're fairly simple machines to teardown. This mixed with my new-found knowledge of the software makes me (perhaps naively) think I can keep mine running for a while (provided I don't hold the soldering iron in one place too long :P)

Personally, I 'stage' my machine the night before (I use one of the re-usable pods): pod in, lid closed, mug placed. Then, when I wake up/presence is detected in the kitchen, the machine 'wakes up', sets the brewer settings, and brews automatically.

It's stupid, but it's new and cool for me right now lol

Fair warning, I used Claude for a lot of the details. Architecturally, it's my design.

Got NixOS running on my reMarkable Pro Paper Move (codename: chiappa) because when I got this tiny tablet, it was with the goal of replacing my iPad Mini (which I mainly used to read books on anyway) and wanting to use something that ran Linux (I use NixOS on every other machine I touch except my Phone...).

Finally got around to (helping Claude) port NixOS though so now, besides having my config live alongside the rest of my machines, I can boot right into KOReader and not play silly games with Xochitl everytime I reboot. Plus, being my own NixOS config, I can (WIP/testing) load/use other applications with ease.

If you want to use the e-ink bridge/associated tools to port to another OS of your choice (I tried and succeeded in porting to PostmarketOS but they have a strict no generative AI policy), you can use this repo (which the flake also references):

All the hardware works with KOReader with some minor patching. Feel free to play around with different configurations, etc.

Lastly, I wouldn't recommend this to people unfamiliar with NixOS or at least some Linux experience. There's a lot of information here on how to essentially brick your device lol. Be careful out there! :)

Ever wanted to control a Keurig (K-Supreme, others may be possible with YOUR help! :D) via Home Assistant?

Well now ya can!!...if you solder in an ESP32 and run ESPHome on it to essentially turn it into a wireless UART bridge :)

Worked with Claude (sorry if that's not cool...feel free to ignore) to RE the J2 port on a K-Smart and a K-Supreme (had the K-Smart first before moving to a K-Supreme because I accidentally tore a PCB trace) and get the brewer to both send and receive useful information over ESPHome to Home Assistant!

Just wanted to say in case others see this, you can buy a .xyz domain from reputable places (maybe for a higher cost). I believe the OP is talking about the specific site 'gen.xyz'.

I have an xyz domain with Cloudflare, host many things on it (like Jellyfin), and haven't had any issues yet.

Edit: as many have pointed out, my understanding of registrars was wrong and gen.xyz actually owns all xyz tlds. Sleep in fear if you own one I suppose
