same, sometimes I like to think of ourselves as a global species, but we still have different borders and financial systems and sanctions

There should be a special level in hell for those that bomb activists playing music in front of civilian infrastructure so it won't get bombed

I'm way into this track

LOL. I was thinking like a cobbler that makes shoes, and the phrase "cobbled together". But yeah, now I can't unsee it either and that's even funnier :)

slop cobbling

I looked but don't see a thread about Iranian music. It bums me out that we're bombing yet another country that we know nothing about. I like to think we Internet people are all friends regardless of our governments. I'm literally having panic attacks that I can't stop my electeds from being assholes, I wish I could commiserate and make friends with everyone else

Hell yeah. I'm kinda old, I thought everyone already knows about bvsc :)

As the flotilla is going, I was reflecting how I used to listen to this hip hop album like 10 years ago A lo Cubano from Orishas that was a banger and lots of 'I love Cuba" kinda lyrics

but my spanish is terrible to non-existent, and i don't know what the state of music is like in 2026. Who is making great free Cuba music these days? What can we be listening to?

Considering the amount of tech and self hosting types that live in cities, it seems like it would be popular to have little mesh intranets all over the place, but I'm not aware of any.

I read about NYC Mesh a while back, and I wonder if there are other similar things already in widespread use that I just haven't heard about.

As someone of middle age that's been thinking of a career change away from all my BofH open source tech roots, and maybe going back to school, I've been very disheartened to see how married a lot of curriculums in public universities are to specific companies. Maybe it was always like this and I didn't notice, I can imagine if you did an engineering program in the 80's you'd have Boeing employees as professors, but fuck me if I'm going to go to Adobe art school.

Yeah, in a sane world with a good company what 93% of users want will be the default.

Now we'll see where in the enshittification pipeline they are by whether or not they listen to their users.

Proof that people do this!! This definitely wasn't the context when I saw it, but I'm gratified I'm not crazy

we used the moniker "zip" "T" "zoom" to do the back stroke

I vaguely remember someone doing this during a conversation in a bar in Japan years ago, and I saw it again in a manga. What does this mean, if anything? I don't remember what the conversation was about, and we were all drinking so I wouldn't trust my memory anyway
