I'm not watching an ad or a Twitter post to get a read on this but does anyone actually want this? I watched the first one many times because I was 12 and then grew out of it by the sequel. A lot of this late 90s/early 00s comedy seems cringe at best and problematic at worst and now needs to compete with infinite sophomoric YouTube videos.

Not to mention, the Bond franchise got way serious in response to Austin Powers, and the 60s spy he was parodying doesn't seem nearly as culturally relevant to the kids this would need to appeal to to be successful.

... Or is this pure cash grab?

I do think no matter what reforms we do in schools, the subject being the most interesting / stimulating thing currently available must help a lot.

We are getting to a point where we need to rethink how we teach to be more resistant to technological distractions. Students would be more stimulated by topics they are interested in and pursuing interests doesn't stop when the school day ends. Instead, kids are bored all day and naturally looking to relieve that boredom by focusing on passive videos or social media.

If we make the classroom reward being self-driven and passionate in an environment mirroring the real world (with guardrails provided by schools) we'd get driven, passionate students ready to operate in reality.

... Of course, we'd probably have to have motivated teachers that give a damn, kill toxic social media, and abolish capitalism to keep kids from trying to make pragmatic, soul crushing decisions to make money over interests but, well, I'm willing to make that sacrifice.

First time tripping shrooms, eh?

I bounced off Stalker 2 at launch because of bugs, but revisited earlier this year and had a ton of fun with the 90% of the game that is open world scavenging, stealth and combat. The only thing that sucks are some of the boss fights.

Nothing takes me out of being a sneaky, resourceful Stalker more than being forced to drop into an arena, or have a door magically lock behind me, and not being able to advance the story without either beating some bullet sponge or reloading a save from an hour before to change my load out/get more ammo etc and redo it.

I wish they would take more of a Deus Ex approach, where you can action hero your way through if you want, but with some clever/thorough playing you could significantly nerf the boss fights. The game even pretends to do this, but ultimately your choices have no bearing on the bosses.

He's 36 and has made about 16 million over his career, there's not much risk to his future here. Good on him though.

I'll check this out, love Ro Laren / Michelle Forbes...

However this site had a "duel" between Spock and Porthos for best crew member and it just made me laugh. The legendary first officer of the original Enterprise that saved Earth countless times or a cheese loving dog famous for causing diplomatic incidents by pissing on sacred trees... Tough one.

Haha, I have the same feeling for opposite reasons. I grew up in a warmer environment but kept my feet against the cool exterior wall my bed was next to. Now I have to have my feet uncovered and a fan on just to feel comfortable and tucked in sheets feel like I'm trapped.

Being human, eh?

I took a crack at Infinite Jest maybe 10-12 years ago and found it extremely tedious to get through the first few hundred pages before I put it down. I'm weirdly edified that LLMs have taken the wind out of this sort of literary masturbation.

I'm sure they are depressing in some ways. I'm also sure they're better than being on the street.

Eh, as long as it's just the proper noun, I don't really care that much. Languages can have their own versions of nouns based on the cultural context at the time. Is calling Deutschland Germany a problem? Zhongguo China? Nah.

You wanna call Shakespeare something different, go for it, it just means he was important enough to have a moniker in another language.

I'm doing two simultaneous runs, a good Sorcadin run on Tactician and a dark urge, evil Berserker run in Honor Mode that follows along. The good party is basically acting as an advance team to remind me of the scary encounters, ambushes etc. but I've also never done an evil durge run so it's not exactly a 1:1 comparison.

The evil party is just shy of Act 2, but I'm playing with the only companions I have access to (because of my evil actions) and I'm roughly trying to play them on type. Astarion is a Gloomstalker Assassin, Lae'zel is an Eldritch Knight and Shadowheart is a Light Domain Cleric. We are cake walking at the moment, didn't really break a sweat through the Underdark and Monastery. I'm concerned at not having a true caster... But I'm also sort of intrigued at the viability of this party.

Counterspell is the big thing I'm worried about. The advance team is proccing it constantly. Also replacing Haste with potions would suck and I can't get the Haste bow (I assume, Dammon is dead). So far relying on cleric skills for AoE has been working okay.

Can I get away with using speed potions and maybe something clever like going full anti-magic and using Sussur blooms with some party tweaks?(edit: apparently that's not possible anymore, but still Silencing weapons etc.)

Or, should I bite the bullet and spec Minthara as something castery when I get her? If so, who do I replace?

Any suggestions welcome.

I have my Linux box running my TV and it works great, but I'd like the ability to treat my Chromecast as a desktop window for streaming without switching inputs, multitasking etc. I have an HDMI capture card that works great with a Switch, but the Chromecast detects it's not HDCP (DRM) compliant so it won't work. Is there a way to outsmart that detection with software or hardware?

I've heard some knock off hardware confuses it enough to work but it seems like the info is old and I'd rather not roll the dice on hardware that's otherwise garbage...

Hey all. I use the Jellyfin Android app to control an MPV shim running on Linux (Arch, Plasma 6) and for the most part it works great. However, sometimes the app just completely loses track of what's playing or where in the video it is. I can still pause/play blind, but I'd like to be able to tell where I am in a season/episode. Any trick to dealing with this?

For reference I have the app set to "unoptimized" battery usage so it shouldn't just be going to sleep. I do have to open Jellyfin to actually send pause/play button presses from the notification though so I don't know if I just need a better workaround (I'm on the latest Android version if that matters). I also had the same problems using a Chromecast but never bothered to mess with that since the dongle is proprietary, but with the mpv shim the whole stack is open source so I thought I'd ask...
