Weather is starting to become warm and that's making me happier. I also started developing a blog and am excited to start publishing some stuff. Individually I feel good, but feeling a lot of dread for the outside world.

From my experience it's both. A lot of them are fascist pilled or don't know that they are, particularly men. Most of them are obsessed with money or luxury in general and the opportunism is really high as far as I saw. They are also mean as fuck, don't give a shit about being nice to others, have no sense of respect (only when they maybe poke the wasp's nest too much and get punched or yelled at do they actually show some humility). But then on the other side I've never seen so many youth organisations on the left, there are a couple that are ML outright and those are student movements. One is literally called Iskra and they do a ton of good stuff like student pop-up cafeterias, protests, classes for marxism etc.

I don't have younger siblings, I do have a younger cousin who needed some course correcting after he started liking some manosphere stuff, but I caught that really early and am happy where he is at now. But to answer your question, I've seen both and not just the other.

I don't have ADHD personally, but my girlfriend does. For her it's having a dedicated place to read or time of day (usually when she gets home from work, rolls a CBD doint and settles in). For me personally it's either early morning when I get up for about 15 min or before bed, during the day it's almost impossible to get focus/time/energy to read. So maybe it's finding that spot and time that would do the trick for your focus. Or if you can't manage that, use audiobooks.

I've been journaling semi-regulary since 2018. Used to do it daily, but now I only do it when I have something to actually write about (I just do free writing about anything that is on my mind). Anyone else journaling?

Too large of a question to answer, like even thinking of having that much responsibility is giving me anxiety. I'd probably find more capable and knowledgable people to help me figure out what each region needs broadly and then narrow it down from there, but I think I'd focus on free and widespread health care first, then housing/accomodation, food, transportation etc. But this is purely utopian I haven't read enough theory to give proper answers.

Fucking infuriating, even more so how she tries to cut into his sentences all the time. These fucks are trained & think that they are in the right and can't fathom when the mirror is shown.

Thanks for the article and introducing me to espresso stalinist! Been looking for more blog type sites to read.

Doing that on the daily yeah, it's just hard to avoid the anxiety currently since there are real material changes happening all around me because of what is happening.

The last two are my favourite from this list, the cranes and trees on the last one are lovely

I've never seen people on lemmy hate on lumpenproletariat and it's probably the community with the most empathy I've ever seen. From what I've read people have been nothing but nice to you in this post so I honestly don't understand the name calling and lashing out that you are doing.

I like the internationalism in this one

Setting this as my profile banner as we speak.

This fits perfectly, what a lovely piece of art <3

Got into a discussion with a friend who is a biologist about the "human nature" argument against communism. My best shot was saying that we used to live in a sort of proto communism so the evidence of it working are there. He didn't accept that argument and basicly said that due to natural selection, competition etc. and that all social structures eventually disolve.

I didn't have good ideas on how to respond after that.

EDIT: Forgot the question, how could I have defended this argument more?

EDIT2: I read each and every comment anyone posts, I just can't respond to all of you, thanks so much for the explanations it really goes to show how awesome this community is.

I can't seem to find the original post with all the resources. Can someone link it please?

As usual I'm turning to lemmy to get answers/resources on this before I make assumptions and do further reading myself.

Holidays have started and with that comes family discussions on topics such as China having a socials points system which dictates (apparently) everything from you being able to buy a house or enrolling your child into a good school.

Is this true or not? I've heard mixed responses and would love more explanations.

Not in the sense that I want to start a business and exploit people. I am probably misinterpreting a lot of the ideas of socialism/communism as I feel that if I think about making more money (investments, switching jobs, vying for a promotion) that I'm going against the core ideas and values of communism/socialism. I've mostly read/listened that to be a communist/socialist you are putting your community first and thinking of other people while trying to make more money is, to me, inherently individualistic.

The only reason I'd like to make more money is to live a more comfortable life and build upon it.

I hope this makes sense.

I'd love suggestions for apps for note taking that comrades use, ideally just free/open source ones that work on multiple platforms and can sync between devices.

I value this community's knowledge and resources a lot when it comes to reading/watching material on topics and I'm in a lot of need of some mental health resources, specifically on anxiety, stress and depression.

Of all the things going on in world and also locally, from housing crises, economic instability, climate crisis etc.

How does one not fall into nihilism and just general despair? Are texts out there that teach and talk about how to hold grit and optimism in times like these?

TL;DR Help I don't want to be a doomer :(

Was talking to my dad about North Korea randomly and he mentioned Kim Yo Jong. He mentioned that he thought that she seems a much more ruthless and confident leader than Kim Yong Un and had thoughts that maybe she is running things behind the curtains.

I don't know anything about her and don't know that much about the DPRK to fully know so I'm asking here.

I'm currently going through the Prolewiki reading list for beginners, after I finish it I would love to read up on the Russian revolution. Not looking for a massive tome, but something in between being general but not overly specific and dense that I can't get through in let's say a month or 2. Thanks!

The video in question, it got sent to me by a coworker saying that they found it interesting. I have no idea what to think of, but calling the Lenin a dictator can't be right.

Examples are researches, articles from media, youtube videos, podcasts etc. how do I know that what the people in these media outlets are saying is true? Do I just take the information at face value or do I need to do some specific research?

I'm asking this as I've come to information in the past that was then contradicted by some other information (apparently). Especially when it comes to debate and I would say that there are documents that the CIA has staged coups all around the world, the other person can just say "show me the proof I don't believe you" and I'm just left standing there not knowing what to say or saying "saw it in a youtube video which showed the documents" which isn't much of an answer I feel like.

Hope this makes sense.
