🇺🇸 "Law that has allowed U.S. intelligence agencies to collect... overseas communications without needing search warrants is set to expire"

Here is a completely wild thought: instead of changing or renewing it, how about the USA stops ignoring people's basic rights worldwide? 🤪

There is a pretty big movement in Denmark that tried to avoid US products and companies based in Denmark. I assume this is why they have launched a massive campaign where they use local sayings in a humorous way.

You can read more and see more examples here:

Are there any other similar attempts where you are, where they or other US companies try to regain market share?

I want to make some cash transfers to some of the poorest people. The main gang doing this seems to be givedirectly.org , a USAn charity

I might just use them, as that barely hardly counts as using a USAn product. (Not sure if they pay tax to the USA/Israel? Maybe they are exempt?)

But if there's an alternative outside that would be slightly preferable.

The spread of fast-follower regulations modeled after the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) and the United Kingdom’s Digital Markets, Competition, and Consumers Act (DMCC) reinforces the “Brussels Effect,” which ITIF has argued constitutes a form of digital imperialism that hinders innovation in the Global South.

Obviously it’s not smart to switch to a Cloudflare-plagued network like that of Matrix if your goal is to escape US tech giants. For strictly internal use on self-hosted instances, sure. But as soon as a matrix room becomes open public Cloudflare rears its ugly head.

Zulip and SimpleX are probably better options. Certainly IRC is a better option so long as the channel has no Matrix gateway. SimpleX is also free of Cloudflare.

The EU and India have concluded a landmark free trade agreement that dramatically lowers tariffs and opens both markets to expanded trade, especially in cars, wine, textiles, gems, and pharmaceuticals.

Keep up the pressure, it still today is the only thing that seems to get under his skin.

... while walking the factory floor on his tour, someone began shouting at Trump. It's hard to make out the full sentence shouted at Trump, but it seems to have included the words "pedophile protector."

Jeffrey Epstein ... and the Dept. of Justice's slow release of the infamous Epstein Files.

In true presidential fashion, Trump responds by yelling down at the guy ... pretty clearly saying "Fuck you" before flipping him the bald eagle.

Everything is there...

The 2025 U.S. National Security Strategy This document quietly normalizes a major shift in global order:

  • Tariffs as coercion – trade is openly treated as a weapon. Market access becomes conditional and reversible.
  • Technology with strings attached – access to U.S. tech, AI, capital and standards depends on political loyalty. “Think twice before buying American” is the implicit message.
  • NATO as a transaction – security guarantees are no longer assumed; they’re earned (5% GDP, alignment, burden-sharing).
  • Europe as a problem to be fixed – described as demographically, culturally and politically weakened, with the U.S. pushing for a fast Ukraine peace mainly to stabilize Europe and reset relations with Russia.
  • Preemptive force normalized – strikes and “surgical” military action are framed as standard policy tools, not last resorts.
  • Most alarming: the U.S. openly claims the right to block other great powers, force political choices, and intervene to enforce spheres of influence – essentially the logic used by Russia and China, just stated upfront and not yet fully executed.

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson said on Sunday he believed the approaching vote on releasing Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein should help put to rest allegations that Donald Trump had any connection to the late sex offender's abuse and trafficking of underage girls.

"They're doing this to go after President Trump on this theory that he has something to do with it. He does not," Johnson, the Republican leader in the House, said on "Fox News Sunday."

Although Trump and Epstein were photographed together decades ago, the president has said the two men fell out prior to Epstein's convictions.

Trump has since instructed the Department of Justice to investigate prominent Democrats' ties to Epstein.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., once one of President Trump's strongest supporters in Congress, called his foreign policies "not America first positions" and said his recent attacks against her can "put my life in danger." Greene and Trump have traded barbs in last few days over the future of the Make America Great Again movement, raising new questions about the president's firm grip on the Republican Party.

On Friday, Trump withdrew his endorsement of the Georgia lawmaker calling her "Wacky" and claiming Greene's recent criticism of him was all about his refusal to support her future political ambitions. On Saturday, Trump called here a "traitor" in a social media post.

"He called me a traitor and that is so extremely wrong," Greene said during an interview on CNN's State of The Union with Dana Bash on Sunday. "And those were the types of words used that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger."

When asked about her previous attacks against political opponents — such as in 2020 when she posted an image of a gun alongside a group of progressive Democratic congresswomen — Greene apologized.

"I think that's fair criticism," Greene said. "And I would like to say humbly I'm sorry for taking part and the toxic politics. It's very bad for our country."

During the extensive interview, Greene also criticized Trump's recent defense of the H-1B visa program — which lets companies sponsor foreign-born workers for skilled labor. During a Tuesday Fox News interview, Trump said the U.S. has "to bring this talent" and he said the country doesn't have enough of it.

"Those are not America first positions," Greene said on Sunday before voicing displeasure at his frequent foreign trips. "And continuing to really travel all over the world doesn't help Americans back at home. I really — and I said this to him and I will say it out loud — I would love to see Air Force One be parked and stay home."

Despite her break with Trump, local GOP leadership in Georgia's 14th Congressional District are standing with Greene.
