The short Story is, that they only mark the country of the company who sells the products and not the country of origin. So for wxamble, their own peanuts are marked with a star as they are based in EU as a company, but their peanuts can come from the US. Same gores with "California raisins" and other products what recieve the EU mark simply because the company who owns the brand are based in EU.

I am looking to buy Careless People from within EU. No local bookstores seem to have it (yet) but I would like to get it before it (maybe) gets pulled back. Any suggestions besides Amazon?

META allows you to have messenger, without having a facebook account. At least here in Europe. This is great, as some families, communities and even workplaces depend on it for instant messaging. This is the case with my new job. They have a messenger group for important messages and shift trades ("can someone take my shift tomorrow")

That said, it seems like it is making life hard for people who only have messenger and no facebook. People have not been able to find me, even though i have a pretty unique name. The results show "no results" even though i do have an account with this name, and can be found by some. Even when they do find me, by be searching for them and adding them as a friend, I can't be added to the group chat. This works some times and not others. I can never know if people can actually find me, when they try.

I have tried letting people search me by name, email, and phone number. The username feature does not work. It says it is broken and i should try later. Also all setting are set to be very loose, and there are no request in the message requests, or spam folders.

Any of you have experienced this, and feel like a second grade user, because you don't have a facebook account besides the messenger account?

PS: i am also in the process of raising a privacy case with the irish data authorities, because META has not deleted my data as requested in August 2024 but that is with an entirely different email to the one i am using now.

I am trying to move away from US tech for ages actually and last year i transitioned from Google photos to ente. I am very happy with them but now i was checking if they are based in US.

I can't seem to figure it out. They have their corporate postal addresses in US, but also addresses in Netherlands and Finland. Also it seems that they are based thought the world and do remote work so I ma at a dilemma between accepting them as they are or having to find an alternative to them

Edit: update from Ente, and a blog post they made when they registered in the US. TLDR: they actually wanted to register in EU, but as they are fully remotely operated, EU was not able to allow for a company without a physical presence to register in any of its countries (besides Estonia). There were workarounds and hacks, to achieve this but they were not willing to use "hacks". It was more straight forward creating a Delaware C corporation instead. Is there a plug in that changes the wordpress functionality to include post types that only have an image or a video with a short text? Or also just notes?
