I think this captures the essence of "Punk Mickey Mouse" that Sonic originally was supposed to have.

I think it fits more than the skater bro we got in the late 90s/2000s or the quippy Marvel hero we have now. Plus he actually looks like a hedgehog.

I do not appreciate the implication that the shoes are part of his body. Or more troublingly that his body is of the same material as his shoes.
