Made this change myself a few years ago. Moving to an active job actually works really well for me because it forces me to exercise daily AND I can just listen to theory podcasts all day while working and nobody will care so long as I'm getting my work done. At the cost of a few thousand less per year in income, I gained probably years of increased health long term. Plus, it comes with a pension plan, so if the entire system doesn't collapse before I retire, I have that to look forward to.
