An emulsion without an oxygen carrier, capable of increased storage, but with slower exchange couldn't be more different than blood. They have to actively inject the oxygen into the emulsion, while blood passively picks up and releases it where it's needed based on ambient partial pressure and dissolved co2. It's almost the opposite of hemoglobin/hemocyanin which changes it's capacity based on need.
